All,

I had posted over here (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/0_2_3_0_rc1_svn_dvr-p223989.html#post223989) my findings with an earlier 0.2.3 rc release, and I've been meaning to follow up in my ample spare time (right!). I can confirm that with 0.2.3 final with svn 17070, I'm getting the same results. A summary/restatement is below:

I'm seeing two kinds of behavior changes in the video editor, in comparison to what existed in v0.2.2.0. My best guess is that both behavior changes are more due to the .dvr-ms playback engine than anything within the video editor. The first issue is that when the current position is moved within a video file, playback starts even if the file had been paused prior to moving. This makes setting a cut point something of a dance between arrow keys, <spacebar>, and [forward/backward] buttons. The second issue is made worse by the first. If the file playback goes to the end of the file, it is not possible to scroll back through the file and locate to any position within the file. This makes setting a cut point at the end of the file impossible.

I had thought that a previous svn for 0.2.3 final (16617, perhaps?) had actually solved the second issue, so that playback stopped at the last second of a file, but that might be due to the nature of the actual file involved instead of the mechanism.

What I would like to see is that once a file is paused within the video editor, it stays paused, even when the position is changed. I would also like to be able to run to the end of a file and set a cut point, and subsequently be able to scroll back through the file.

I mentioned some potential solutions in my prior post, so go take a look there. And as before, let me know if you would like log files from me. Just let me know which versions/svn's you want me to use to generate the log files. And if it's user error on my part because I'm missing the magical solution, let me know that, too.

    I can confirm this issue.

    There's another little bug. If you return to home (or go into any plugin) while the cut in on the run, the original file is not delete even if answered "Yes" to the question.

    Bye!

    Hi,
    I recently have the strange problem, that I don't see files to edit nor any kind of possibility to browse the directory.
    All I can see on the page is the navigations buttons....
    same with all skins btw.

    Do you guys have any hints?

    cheers
    joystick

    Hi joystick,

    this may a bit tricky but it should help:
    1. close MediaPortal
    2. goto your MediaPortal folder (by default C:\Programs\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal)
    and look for the file MediaPortal.xml.
    Open it with Notepad or similar, so you can edit the entries.
    3. search in that MediaPortal.xml file for these lines:
    <section name="VideoEditor">
    <entry name="lastUsedFolder">I:\TV</entry>
    </section>
    4. you will have another entry here, but you need to enter the partition letter and the name of the folder, where
    your recordings are stored. (as you can see my recordings are stored on partition I and in the folder named TV)
    5. save your settings and restart MediaPortal
    6. go to VideoEditor and now you should be able to browse your recordings again

    Hope this may help

    Regrads

    I agree this is very annoying, and makes any sort of fine cut quite hard.

    Any chance this is a prioty now that .ts is supported?

    Mediaportal crash if i open a record (mpeg File).

    You're not using "Debug" log level

    its not a editor problem, its a problem with the SVN-Version (Mediaportal or TVS). i can record, but not play (Black Screen) or edit the mpeg files. Latest Test with 17093. i test today 17106. than i can say more.

    its not a codec problem, other MPEG Movies works fine.
