Well, no need to install the (great) Moiristo 0.8.x VLC plugin first.
And, if you did it before, you absolutely need to remove libvlc.dll from the MP root folder.

1/ Download : VLC media player for Windows
2/ Install VLC 0.9.8.a downloaded application in default folder.
3/ Then, unzip/unrar entire VLC plugin archive in MP folder and, it should be fine.

When MP 1.0.1 will be out, VLC plugin (maybe) will have it's own MPE1 installer to avoid install problems.

    Regards.

I had been trying to incorporated VLC into my media playing antics, but surrendered when I could not get the ISO's to playback without freezing up.
This thread has resurrected my interest in VLC. I believe it to be the best pure player I've come across.

What is the status of the VLC player / plugin?
Am I to understand that MP v1.0.1.0 has VLC embedded?
Does the plugin method described here simply negate the requirement to select VLC as an external player and path it out in the config?

Once again I find myself more than a little confused__:confused:

    Hello,
Working, still in dev, no zero default yet but, on approach. ;)

It's an external player, like MPlayer or Winamp..

Not sure what you ask for, you have to install latest VLC version (0.9.9, actually) where you want.
The plugin will find where VLC is installed then, will use it engine, depending what you have choosen in the VLC plugin config.
    See you.

There are two version of VLC for MP
VLC internal player and VLC plugin.

I think (but never tried the internal player)
VLC Internal player, play music or video in the gui of MP with his "codec".
VLC plugin launch VLC in fullscreen with the GUI of VLC.

    make tv/dvb-s from vlan player

    Hi all,
My multimedia life is almost perfect thanks to Media portal Team and MP test users.
I Work with MP 1.0.1 and use the “x-factor” skin last version all plug-in that I need work fine.
But there is still one item that is unstable and very slow and that’s “Live TV” with TV-server.
I tried every TVS version and mixed it with other versions of Mediaportal but still slow and unstable.

Last version of “live TV “in GB pvr is more or less stable and quick. Maybe we need to make are Own direct receiver that supports DVB –X but even better… :D

I search the internet and found out That vlc 1.0.1 can do the trick, it can handle DVB-s and can be re-skinned
    VLC 1.0.1
For the moment we us VLC only for streaming but can also be used as a direct receiver for DVB-X.

For people that never tried it
GO to open capture device capture mode on DVB Directshow DVB mode on DVB-S option and than fill in the transporter parameters and click play
If you go in the toolbar click on play  program you will see all the channels of your transponder aria. That way you can navigate your channels.

I did a test with you vlan plug-in put in the link that VLC uses to open in direct DVB-s channels (dvb-s://frequeny=11538000) and believe it or not but it works!! :cool:Because there is now channel changer I can’t change the channel. That option is hidden under program button

If there is a way we can read out from vlc and but the channel list under or next to the preview screen it is easier to navigate.
For the moment I can only see the free channels but maybe there is a way to use a smartcard or emulator to see other channels.
If that is not the cease I’m sure (I hoop!!) VLC Team will do an update soon with more support on this

For the time being I’m using “My programs “to open DVBprog to watch, record, epg and teletxt.
I hoop there will be a nice integrated solution soon.

Thx for all the hard work so fare!!:D

PS : VLC 1.0.1 can also do Blue ray playback and some other stuff that can be used in MP.

    Regards
