videos not playing at all (1 Viewer)

Im a noob to mediaportal so maybe this is an easy fix

Im having a problem playing video, media portal works mint on my work pc but on the HTPC. I get no video. Im using this for play back of HD mkv and wmv files only on my sony w4100. When I select a video from the list with in media portal, the screen will flash black and then just return to the menu again. I tryed disabling vmr9 but then nothing happened when I try to run a video.

Any help would be great Thanks

Make sure that Visual Studio 2005 SP1 redist update is installed.
