Hi everyone,

this weekend I had time to doublecheck everything and I GOT IT

The audio renderer in the Media Portal Codec settings page had been set to "Default Direct Sound Device". This did not work. Changing this one to "ASUS XONAR D2 Wave Device" made it working. (I have a ASUS XONAR D2 soundcard installed)

alexchini's hint to check wave settings pointed me to the solution. Thank You!!!

Anyway, it worked with a pristine Mediaportal install and blue3wide skin, then the installation of BLACK GLASS changed this setting to "Default Direct Sound Device". Can someone please check this ?

i have just had this problem I solved it with the solution you give above using the reltec hdmi device since thats what i have on the mobo, but now i have a slightly different problem when i turn the tv off and on again the sound on the channel i was watching goes, however changing to a different channel and back again fixes it so i don't know what's happening now
