    I have some additional questions:
-Which version du you use? With ping as lifecheck or the other version?
-Are you running any firewall software?
Try to ping your client and try the pslist.exe tool to see that you can check the processes running on your client.

    @netexplorer

I'm using the version with ping
I have Windows Firewall on client and server
    Ping works
PSList (on the client) shows nasclient service is running on client.
PSList (on the server) shows nasserver service is running on server.

    Cheers

Configuration seems o.k. So i have modified the Ping version to use only one ping signal. You can download it on the main page.

    Hi netexplorer,

Tried v091 with ping. I just replaced the two server files - they looked like the only ones that changed.

When watching video or recorded TV on the client the server PC goes to standby.

When watching TV the server stays awake.

What info do you need to help?

    Cheers
    ..Steve

    Hi VidarParry,
you have added the process nasserver.exe in TVServer config section Power Scheduler tasks which prevent standby? If so, check if the process terminate when you start watching a recording or video. In the beginning i test the program, i use the AutoIT internal ping function. But the process terminate unexpected after a short time. Maybe it's the same problem with the commandline ping. In this case try the other version with pslist.
    Bye, Netexplorer.

    I hadn't, but I have now - no change!

Not sure I understand. Are you saying the nasserver process should terminate when a client starts accessing the server? If so, what restarts it when the client access finishes?

This seems like it should be a simple issue to fix (using a client with a server in multi-seat configuration), and I'm frankly considering just using more electricity and leaving the server running all the time (not very green!!!)

I'm unclear why the mediaportal team haven't addressed this problem on a more system integrated based approach, as there must be an increasing number of users (like me) who want to utilise the fantastic MP features in a multi-seat environment.

This isn't a shot at you, netexplorer - just a request for MP team to raise the priority of this issue.

    Cheers

    Hi,
whta i mean is,if the nasserver process terminate unexpected. It should be running until last client is ofline. What you can test is, configure a client with address 127.0.01 (Windows loopback adapter). Start the process manualy and see if the process ends or not.It should be running and the server should run until you stop the process.

    Hi Netexplorer,
The nasserver service runs until about 60 seconds after the last client shuts down. The server then shutsdown in accordance with the Powerscheduler parameters.
But what restarts the nasserver service when the server is restarted by the WOL from the remote client? This seems to be the problem now that I've played with it a bit more.

Also, the nasclient doesn't send a WOL when resuming from standby, which measn the server doesn't wake up other than on first boot.

    Cheers

    Hi Steve,
the nasserver process is started by the nasclient with the psexec command tool after server is online. Online means, pslist test if process explorer.exe is running.

Standby is not recognized from nasclient.exe. But you can manually send the start control to server by right click the nasclient icon and select "Start Server" command. I will have a look, if it's possible to trigger this in nasclient.
    Bye, Netexplorer.
