Wake up tv server only when actually needed (1 Viewer)

Hello,

my setup is as follow:

1. dedicated tv server
2. freenas server for movies & audio (cifs & dlna)
3. MP client

TV server & MP client have powerscheduler enabled. MP client is also set up to wake the TV server via WOL.

Everything works correctly but I would like to let the TV server sleep when it's not used even if the MP client is working (e.g. watching a movie) but send a WOL if tv part of MP is called. At the moment the TV stays on even if there is no TV activity.
TV server is in hybrid sleep, so waking time is not a problem

Has anyone found a workaround for situations as this?

Hi,
you could deactivate the WOL feature in your MP client config and try something like the WOL-PowerManager plugin. Never tried it myself, but it should work in theory

Thank you, I missed that plugin.
I'm expecting a lot of message of disconnection from tv-server but this could be bearable.
What I think is that after watching tv the server won't sleep until MP client power off... But better than nothing!

You could play a bit with the PowerScheduler++ PlugIn. For example: activate network monitor in PS++ on your server and deactivate/deinstall the PS++ plugin in your client. As long as you watch TV the server won't go into standby because of the network traffic. When you stop watching TV the client can't prevent the standby of the server (because of the missing PS++) and your server will go to sleep because of the lacking network traffic.
