When I click on the 'Browse' button in the watchdog I get a Windows error - it's caused by the invalid filename characters that are there as default.

Also, in the 'Action' menu, 'Perform pre-test actions' does nothing

What invalid filename characters, and where?

Are there any logs you can provide?

Normally I'd just be deleting this due to lack of logs, but if the problem is in the part of MP that provides logs, it would be a bit harsh. However, you're going to have to describe the problem better.

    Thanks for your patience!
Does the watchdog even produce logs for itself??

The error is caused because the default filename that the watchdog is saving to is:
    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\profilename\Desktop\MediaPortalLogs_<date>__<time>.zip
The <> characters are invalid for filenames, so when you click browse you get the error.
Read this: Error Message: Filename is Invalid or Cannot Contain Any of the Following Characters

To reproduce: start the watchdog and click 'Browse'

    Does that help??

Confirmed. This used to work fine. I will check a little more before putting it into mantis.
