ad 1) I don't expect anyone to do so - I know that the MP team absolutely kicks ass and make DVB-S2 available as soon as possible..
I didn't mean to attack anyone - sorry if I did so...

AFAIK (seem that this is our favorite word ;) ) DVB-S2 is completely finished, Premiere and Pro7Sat1 (German / Austrian Channels) already use DVB-S2

ad 2) Nothing to add here for me - I'll read into it.. As soon as I know more about DVB-S2 and hardware requirements I'll share my knowledge ;)

P.S Sorry for my bad english...

DVB-S/S2 or whatever....We are talking about terrestial broadcast and thats only DVB-T.

It seems like FireDTV-T will support the terrestial broadcast of 720p h.264 signal from the swedish provider Boxer.
A "HDTV package" with needed codecs and drivers will be released on http://www.digital-everywhere.com/ and the swedish support site http://www.tystpc.nu hopefully before the football starts.

So the only question now is if Mediaportal will (or already does) support it...???

DVBViewer is supporting it already and i use it too, but it would be much easier to watch everything with MP.

So lets wait and see... and hope ;)

EDIT: Btw...The swedish satellite provider CanalDigital will broadcast the football WC in DVB-S...and not DVB-S2. There are so far no DVB-S2 broadcasts in sweden and may not be for a while. Therefore FireDTV-S will also work for CanalDIgital users watching football in 720p h.264.

As highlighted in a previous thread on the same subject MP is not HDTV aware at the moment.
Yes you can playback HDTV content however live broadcasts cannot be watched.
The DVB demuxer is not set-up to decode H.264 at the moment. It requires more than that though as we need a recording engine which is H.264 aware. DVR-MS is not.

Will it be sorted before the World Cup - NO. Unless someone submit a patch who can recieve this stuff and confirm it's working.

    Hi DMAN,

I can't help with any MP patch but I'm helping to develop a DVB-T application called DigitalWatch II which I looking at adding h264 support if its possible. The application also uses the TSFileSource filter to timeshift the transport stream but h264 compatable decoders are still a problem. We don't have any h264 broadcasts in AU so I'm in the dark as to how, if at all, it will work. So I'm asking if someone may be able to help out with some testing it would be great. The discussion regarding development can be found here. http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showtopic=4123&st=480

    cheers,
    Dan.
