WebEPG not grabbing (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I've been trying to get WebEPG working, but for some reason it seems to be grabbing some channels, but not others. I've selected 16 of my favourite channels, and I'm only getting data on 3.

I've looked at the logs, and the errors it is producing look like this:

I thought that meant that it couldn't find any listing on that web page, but if I manually load the page above, I get the channel listings in my browser.

Why would WebEPG say it can't find listinges when they are there?

The first 2 channels download correctly, and then the next 6 fail (all of these are set to read from digiguide). The next channel downloads (this from radiotimes), then the final 7 fail.

I've set all the channels to download 14 days. Is it possible that Digiguide only allow me to read a certain number of pages within a number of seconds, or is it something else? Is digiguide expecting me to input some kind of username/password to access the data?

I've not got a current digiguide account, but it seems odd that I can browse the listings for free with a web browser if this is the case?!?

seems they've changed the layout and also are using hex date strings for determining the day and time requested. If you copy and paste the address in your posted log, you should see the page reload rather quickly. It will only reload once, because your browser will cache the result - so you can only see it the first time you paste it. They add an advertising string to the url, I don't know if this changes after so many pages requested so that might be something else.

long story short, I don't think webepg is able to do the hex date required - even if you compensated for the format change you could only get the next 24 hours. maybe someone in the xmltv users group would know how to do this.

OK, I had a chance to play with this properly last night, and I discovered that when I changed the order of the channels being grabbed, I always get the first 2 requested from digiguide...

I thought it may be me requesting too much info from the websites at once (a bit like an anti DoS attack), and so I changed the grab days from 14 to 2, and guess what? I get more channel data!

It seems that Digiguide is blocking my connection after a certain number of requests within a couple of seconds, so I have found a very dodgy workaround:

I've split my channels (webepg.xml) into blocks of 2, and I'm running a batch script to rename and copy the webepg.xml files, then run the webepg.exe against each one in turn.

The good news is, that this is working perfectly, and I am getting full EPG data for all my channels. I'm so glad I've got this working, as Digiguide has much more program information that RadioTimes.

Would there be any way to modify the wepbepg.exe configuration to "slow down" the requests, like for example, when it runs, download the first channel, wait 10 seconds, then try the next? As I don't have a TV tuner card, I only turn my media center on when I want to use it, so I just run the webepg on startup.

glad you figured it out and I was wrong. In my testing it kept giving me the same days information over and over. maybe because I was not delaying the requests.

You can add a delay between each single page request. Add a delay value to the site tag in the grabber xml file. See wiki for details:

I'm also having trouble getting Digiguide to work properly. I've got 60-odd channels configured, it consistently stops after grabbing then first ten. I tried configuring the delay as per the Wiki to a value of 10000ms (10sec), judging by the logs it doesn't seem to be having any effect.

and so on. Judging by those time-stamps there's no 10 second delay being introduced between each request.

Hi Jiggles,
so glad you said that! I was wondering what I was doing wrong...
It's the same from here. I've added different delay values (with and without quotes) and I can't get Webepg to pause between requests.

I had this problem on RC3, so I upgraded to 1.0 over the weekend, and I still have the same problem.

Apologies for the bump, but I see James has been away, and wanted to attract his attention.

James, both myself and Jiggles seem to be having problems with setting the delay options between HTTP requests with MP 1.0.

Can you confirm that the delay function still works?

I can confirm the delay function wasn't working. However, it should be fixed now

Test the next SVN build and let me know your results.

and here is the log (stripped some lines), there is no delay seems. the first two channels are processed instantly

after 2 channels are done the third always fail with huge delay

then sometimes the fourth starts working, sometimes not.
