I've been running an old version of Mediaportal since forever. I just bought a new PC with Win7, and I'm installing the latest MP. The install went fine. I did some basic configuration - where my video files are located and what remote I'm using. This seemed to work fine, since when I fired up MP, I was able to navigate with my remote, and it found my video files. When I try to play one, the screen goes dark for a second, and then I'm immediately returned to the list of videos. The problem (other than that) is that I have no idea where log files are kept, so I can't troubleshoot this.
FWIW, the videos play fine with other players like VLC. I don't use MP to watch TV - only for recorded videos.
