winsys11 - can you help with how you have your buds positioned?

Also can you confirm - when you press keys on your mce remote, does the ir receiver flash, or the actual buds (or both?). In my case, only the receiver flashes.

Thnx

only the transceiver led flashes when it receives from the remote control.

The buds only flash when the stb needs to change channel.

My buds flash _really_ bright. At first I had the bud exaclty in the middle of the ir window on the pace, but that didn't work too well. Worked better if I placed it off centre (need to experiment here).

I guess your channels are set up for external stb? (sorry if dumb question)

same problem here

Ok i am having EXACTLY same problem as arjay.
I want to setup mce remote to control pace 3100 box in MP.
I have spent 5+ hours on this but seem to be getting somewhere,
(i think it would be handy on making some sort of documentation on this, i would be willing to help).

I managed to get the myblaster in the correct folders and i have learned codes from stb remote.

It kept picking up signals from other wireless equipment at first, (took me ages to figure out) when i clicked learn it would learn a code without me even using the remote on it. Then switched off my wireless keyboard, used a standard one and also my laptop which had a wifi card in it. Then when i restarted my pc and went to learn in myblaster, it said countdown to learn 10, 9 , 8 secs. etc....
so i learned the codes for sky remote, used test and the buds flash really bright, every time i test it changes channel on the stb so that works fine.

Now >> do i close my blaster or am i supposed to leave it open with MP to get it to work? it has added the two files myblaster.dat and blaster.txt in the MP home folder.

Now i have mce remote ticked in MP setup, but when i press channel numbers it doesn't flash the bud. In MP the numbers change but stb stays the same, buds don't flash but it works fine in myblaster when i press the test button with the mouse.

By the way i have been using the myblaster compiled by scoop which i found in one of the posts here but is the myblaster_extra.zip i haven't used that one.

>> arjay could you do me a favour and send me the epg for this and the channel list you added, i think there is a backup feature
this would be a great help for me... :D

I have configured some channels as external in setup, but still cannot change stb channels in MP???

In the edit properties of the tv channel there are all these other settings such as analog, digital channel encryted? DVB-T, ATSC etc...
How do i know which one is sky, do i set it as digital or analog?

Also on the external tab i have input via: CVBS#1, CVBS#2, SVHS, RGB.

Now my STB is connected to the sky digital dish with coax cable, and to my tv card via a standard aerial/antenna cable so which option am i supposed to choose?

Winsys11 whats the DAT file you got sent, could this be what we need, is it a myblaster dat file for your remote?
I have also added the info in the mediaportal.xml to force port 2, does this mean i must configure in port 2 in myblaster and does it mean i must switch ir blaster to port 2 on back of mce remote receiver?

At least i have found some others with the same problem now, maybe we can come to solution quicker.

Any help would be much appreciated....

By the way i have a leadtek winfast pvr2000, Win MCE 2005, MCE remote and blaster eu version. I have RC4 of MP.
I just remembered my tvcard comes with a single blaster aswell with a remote, can i use this somehow? at the moment i have it disconnected.

MCE remote works fine in MP using all other features like ffwd, rwd, navigation etc.
Just problem changing channels

my dish connects via coax to the stb, and ANALOGUE audio/video outputs connect to inputs on my pvr-150 card.

On the external tab, I select CVBS #1 (can anyone tell me what CVBS stands for?)

if you connect the antenna (rf) out of the stb into your tv card you would need to
1. tune the tv card to the rf channel of the STB
2. tune the STB to the channel you want

This would require that MP tunes the tv card and the STB. I don't think MP works this way, and may be the root of the problem.

BTW, I didn't add the "force" bizzo to my xml, and I plug into output one of the transceiver.

The DAT file I got is for the model of PACE stb that I have. Probably not much good for you. its a DC420 / DS420

A hint for other trying to learn remotes, If you have a plasma they spit out that much IR it makes it impossible to learn codes. Just the reflections from my clothes back to the receiver caused chaos.

I'm pretty sure that your set up won't work that way. When you recieve an external channel, MP expects to see it on one of the external inputs.
The RF input on your tv card is where the internal signal comes from. I don't think there is any way to change this.

Does your set top box have any other kind of output? If it has S-Video you'll actually get a better result.

i am using an old pace box, around 10 years old maybe more - it has the following connections on the back:
    rs232
    aerial in
    telephone in
    RF 1, RF2
    Scart1, Scart2
    Audio out left, right (phono)
    power
    dish input (coax)

There is no s-video, is s-video really that good, whenever i have used it hasnt been all that great.
I always thought component connections were better.

My tv card is leadtek pvr2000 with hardware mpeg decoder:
    it has the following connections:
    RF
    Composite video
    S-video
    ir blaster
    audio in
    radio aerial

So are you guys saying that with RF connection i won't be able to change channels in MP thru STB?

it was working in MC2k5, and when i configured MP it scanned for channels and found 2, one being the main RF signal from the STB.

you can buy a scart - s-video connector pretty cheaply. It's not a matter of good, but the fact that MP assumes external channels come from the external inputs. The RF input is only for internal channels as far as MP is concerned.

(I'm pretty sure that this is the fact, but I don't use these, so will be happy to be proved wrong if this is not the case)

As for the quality, this is the way they go in order from least to best (the top few are pretty interchangeable though).

    RF - Composite/RCA - S-Video - Scart - Component - VGA - HDMI - DVI

iq938 - I have a scart to composite lead which works pretty well for gaining the signal (but obviously not changing channels - see all my posts!!)

BTW - someone told me (not sure how good the info is) that mce won't use the svideo-in on the pvr150mce card. Does that mean it WILL work with MP, coz I also have a scart to svideo I would like to try out....

As to your requests - I can send you the channel files but I have only set up about 6 channels as external etc - the other 50 are still shown as external. I got them by downloading the epg then using the inport from epg feature in MP setup/Television/TV channels. Then each channel has to be modified by hand to relfect the external stb - an hour or twos work. As to the epg - what exactly do you want? I can give you the instructions I used to download my first epg - is that any good?

Pretty sure it will work to the S-Video in on the 150. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't. Frodo is a lot smarter than Microsoft, anyway ;-)
