Hi,

I'm completly new here, I would like te build a HTPC with captures the digital signal from our local DVB-C-supplier TV-Home (Essent). Which card do I have to buy? Who has the perfect configuration?

i'm beta-tester of the firedtv-c box from digital everywhere
this box can receive dvbc, but not for the netherlands

As always the dutch are not following the dvb specs and therefore no
known dvbc card works for casema/upc/essent

but: i know digital everwhere is working very hard to support casema/upc/essent so its just a matter of time before their firedtv-c product will be able to receive dutch dvbc

    Frodo,

Can you please notify us when it will be available. I am very interested in this too, because TVHome of Essent is basically free. You need the next pre-conditions in order to receive it for free:

    - your TV provider for analog TV should be Essent (of course!)
    - your area should be able to receive it (check with http:\\www.tvhome.nl)
    - you have to buy the TVHome Smart Card (about Euro.15,=)

When the TV-card is available we basically only to buy this one and the Smart Card in order to receive it for free.

(BTW: I have emailed FireTV, but thought that you as beta-tester have more insight information)

Henri, i know. I got casema, same thing.
    FTA works find with casema/essent
but scrambled signals dont. (and most are scrambled)
I got a valid smartcard/subscription for casema and tried several CAMS

Digital Everywhere told me they are busy getting casema/essent to work
Problem is that essent/casema are not truly following the DVB-C specs and this causes that no known CAM works for casema/essent.

As far as i can see there are 2 issues they will have to solve
    1. technically getting it to work. I guess they can do that
    2. legally. I'm not sure if its legal to add support for casema/essent in a cam/dvb-c product without permission of casema/essent

But we will keep you posted on this

Answer from email to Digital Everywhere Support:

    Hello Henri!

Our goal is to support as many cable providers as possible.
First we start with Casema and then we will contact TVHome
But I cannot promise any date.

    Regards

    Hi there!

Being a Dutchie (Tilburg) I am very interested in tvhome/Media Portal as well!

Frodo, I was wondering: the FTA channels are - off course - receivable. But which channels are FTA for TVHome/Essent? If this list is the same as the current (basic) analog list, it would be good enough for me - for now :).

The FloppyDTV-solution (digital everywhere) looks and sounds fantastic! Does it work fantastic, as well? How well is it supported in MP (I know, the website says it does, but hé: this could be an account manager talking. I rather hear it from a professional!)

    Thanks in advance for replying!!

    Good news!

Finally i got DVB-C to work in the netherlands.
    What you need:

    1. FireDTV DVB-C
    2. Alphacrypt cam
    3. offcourse a smartcard+subscription

important, it seems that things only work with the alphacrypt cam!

    Frodo,

Does this mean that with the stuf you mention home will work without a hitch?

    Or is there a catch?

    Welcome back, btw!

Finally DVB-C is working in The Netherlands. I would like to watch my Multikabel digital channels through MP, I just don't have the equipment yet.

I too was thinking about an Alphacrypt 3.05 CAM. However, I'm not so sure about which TV-card to buy.

The Technotrend 2300 has caught my eye. Does MP support this one yet? If not, please feel free to recommend other full-featured capture cards.

    Thanks,
    Hans
