My HTPC of 6 years died following a close encounter of the lightening kind via wired network :( . So have had a new MB chip etc, and now have win8.1. Previously I was running vista and had also dual booted with win8 to try it out. Under win 8 I always got audio chirps and squeaks, and lines of blocks or trailing when watching live TV, so I stayed with vista where everything worked.
The rebuild has no vista option grrr, so I am stuck with win 8.1 and can't use live TV - everything else works OK. I have MP 1.5 installed.
I have tried the LAV as installed and the microsoft codecs (only have these two as options at the moment).
TV card is a tt-budget 3200 DVB-S. (This was fine with Vista).
Thanks for any help.

    Hello bopfrog

At first pass this sounds like a signal quality issue. If you weren't getting the same on Vista it could be driver related.
Probably better to start a clean thread for your problem. Full log files are a must:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

Follow the instructions for reproducible problems. Note the times when the artifacts occur as closely as possible.

When watching live TV on win 8.1 I get audio chirps and squeaks and blocks/trails on video. I have just had to upgrade after ;ightening killed my old HTPC. I had the old machine as a dual boot with vista and 8.1, but only used vista as 8.1 had these issues. There were no issues with the Vista based machine.
With new hardware and OS, the glitches are back. I'm using the LAV codecs, and have also tried the Microsoft DVD-DTV codecs - no difference with either of these.
Playback of video files work fine.
Log file attached below - audio issues is about 5 sec in and 3 sec before end. Video issues occur randomly throughout.
    Thanks for any help.

Hmmm, very odd. Not seeing any continuity errors on the server side and the tuner reports 100% quality. I'd interpret that as "TV Server is happy". On the client side, the only problem I see is that your selected video codec (MS) is not being used for some reason. LAV is being used instead:

I don't see anything off in the TsReader or EVR logs...
Could you make a short recording - 30 seconds or so - and attach it. This will clarify if it is a playback issue or a very strange server side issue. I must say at this point I'm suspicious of the tuner due to past experiences, but issues usually only occurred when the CI slot was connected. I note TT have not updated the driver since 2009 (you are using 5.0.1.8, right?). Let's see what the recording test can tell us and then go from there...

Reply to mm1352000 on initial thread (calling all MP New Zealand...) TV card has 5.0.1.8 driver. You can see video quirks through the recording . The audio squeak is just before the finish of the clip.

Hmmm, can't figure out how to move the other posts here.
Could you please upload/attach the recording. I'd like to check it out. :)

Okay, there we go - posts moved. Had to create a new thread then merge the two threads.

I've got the recording but the forum doesn't like the format and refuses the upload. Don't have anything to do that right now - any thoughts on a public domain option?
