Hello,
I use MP 0.2.0.4 with ffdshow to be able to benefit 5.1 surround on my amplifier A/V
I have just migrated towards MP 0.2.2.0 and I note that all my WMA files are played now in stereo and not in 5.1.
My files MP3 are them played well into 5.1
I tryed with WMP 10 and 11 and all my files (WMA and MP3) are well played into 5.1 with ffdshow.
I specify that did not have this problem with MP 0.2.0.4.
Could somebody help me on this subject?
Thanks

PS: Sorry for my bad english, i'm french !!!

I return to specify that the problem that I quoted arrives only with WMA lossless files.
With 'normal' WMA files, no problem to have 5.1 with ffdshow like my MP3 files.
Is this a bug of MP 0.2.2.0 ?

since you're using ffdshow and other files are working it's most probably a problem with a DirectShow filter.
We're building a DirectShow Graph and use it to playback the file.
    it's somewhere in your setup.
    not a problem of MP.

    Thanks for your answer.
However, with MP 0.2.0.4 all my audio files (MP3, WMA, WMA lossless) are well played into 5.1 with ffdshow.
And i'm not sure that is a problem in my setup because, on the french forum of MP i sent a WMA lossless file to a member and he has the same problem.
Would you have the possiblity to test a WMA lossless file ?

Just to offer another count. I have the same problem as well. I can play 5.1 WMA files in Media Portal 0.2.1.0 and WMP just fine, however the files get downmixed to 2 channel in Media Portal 0.2.2.0.

Obviously I am using the Directshow filter as BASS player is not an option, even with ASIO.

    Hopefully this helps.

When you say "WMA files", is it all WMA files or only WMA lossless files ?
And do you use ffdshow to obtain 5.1 ?
On this case, then we probably have the same problem.

I am using 5.1 files. I have not tried the lossless lately.

    I am using AC3Filter.

A small correction. When I use the 0.2.1.0 the multichannel WMA plays, however the mix is not correct. It is not a full as if I play the file directly in WMP.

I also have the issue when the player moves on to the next file it reverts back to 2 channel.

Oh-Well - got to keep playing around.

I'm using stereo files and only wma lossless files are not played into 5.1 with ffdshow in MP 0.2.2.0.
With WMP, the first file played well in 5.1 with ffdshow, but at the second it reverts back to stereo and ffdshow is not up.
However, with MP 0.2.0.4 I never had problems.
    Strange, not ?
