wobble picture at live-tv (2 Viewers)

Hi there!

after installing sp3 for xp, i have a wobblieng picture at live-tv.
its just looks like line were movieng. its not stand still, like it was bevore.
it has something to do with interlace/deeinterlace options, i think.
if i change the interlace option in the codec from automatic to for example movie,
the wobling problem is gone, but then i have stripes at fast moveing scenes.
sorry, i duno how to discribe this scenario better;(

i can defenitely say: before installing xp3 this problem wasn t there!
live-tv was working like it should.

i am using rc1 without svn.

You seem to be using Nvidia's codec. Its been "dead" for last two years i.e. Nvidia is not developing it anymore. Some users have reported (with other applications also) that Nvidia's mpeg2 decoder is not working correctly with the automatic deinterlace setting. But I definately would recomend using for example PowerDVD mpeg2 decoder instead.

No development for purevideo means it hasn't suddenly developed a bug. I dont think we can blame purevideo (until we start using MediaFoundation).

Having said that, this could be a SP3 bug. Would be nice to have Sp2 logs and confirmation of whether it works again. so parkuhr: if you have a spare 4 hours, could you reinstall XP sp2? Or maybe you could uninstall sp3??

I beleive the OP said on irc that same happens with cyberlink.

i also have tried it with cyberlinks powerdvd-codec. the same problem.
but i don t have the hd ultimate version. i only have bought a cheap retail version of this player.
but i don t think that makes a difference.

i can play a image back from my stable working mp version.
its running with sp2.
with this version, i don t have problems at all. live tv is also working without that "wobble".

Actually, i think i have this problem too.

I'm XP 32bit SP3. Cyberlink latest codec.

With DxVA turned on in the cyberlink options, i see judder/wobble up and down
vmr7 proppage.dll shows it's using pixel adaptive deinterlacing.

With DxVA off, it looks fine.

I am 8500GT with 6.14.11.7516 02/05/2008 drivers. psisdecd.dll/mpeg2data.ax=6.5.2710.2732 (dvbfix). quartz.dll 6.5.2600.5596

I realise this isn't a MP issue, but then again, OP said progdvb shows it fine. Either way, anyone got any ideas? TIA


parkuhr: so that's your solution, uncheck the DxVA option in cyberlink settings. let us know if you have trouble getting to the cyberlink control panel.

well, i am at mp-configuration at cyberlink tab. i am sorry but i don t see any DxVA options for turning off;(
yesterday i tried the latest cyberlink codec in the hope it would fix this wobble problem. but this wans t the case;(
so i use my older cyberlink7.

something is also strange: the problem seems only occur when i watch live-tv.
if i play videos i don t have this wobble neve rmind with wich codec.
so this problem goes stranger and stranger for me;(
ok, i have a skystar2 dvbs card. the skystar2 can couse problems, thats known, but before installing sp3 it was working fine.

plse let me know, how i can reach this DxVA options. that i can try to avoid this wobble problem.

DXVA can be disabled inside PowerDVD's config (disables HW acceleration). Skystart2 cannot be the source of this issue, as its just acting like a network card and providing the DVB stream data to application.

Movies and TV can use different codecs. Make sure both are using Cyberlink.

well, sure, its not very propably that the skystar2 is the couse for that problem.
but i think, the tv-stream comes from the skystar2 and goes then into codec.
perhaps the skystar2 was telling the codec somehow that the tv stream is interlaced or not.
after installing sp3 something was changed in this behavior.
but this is only suegstion to explain the the problem.

what it coused the problem exactly, i duno atm.
i really hope that it is resolvable.

ok, with turn off hardware aceleration the wobble problem is gone.
but therfore i see in fast moviengs, if for example fast moveing hands in tv scene, i see a little bit black stripes.
its not so bad. but its noticeable.
i think this has something to do with this hardware aceleration, interlace/deeinterlace.
you only notice this what a discribe as strifes in fast scenes, if you have a exact look on your tv picture.

all this wasn t the case bevore installing sp3!
so atm, the only working solution is deeinstalling sp3.
this will work, till further versions of mp will presuppose sp3.
therefore i am afraid of and i think this will be the case soon.
there i can only pleading the devs: don t make sp3 a presuppose for running further versions of mp.
sp3 seems to be still to bugy...

UPDATE!!!:
problem seems to be solved.
problem occur with the nvidia (8 series) 175.16_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe driver!
the new nvidia 175.19_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe driver, seem to solves the problem!
but i don t wana lucky so early, therefore i make some further tests.

DVB cards dont modify the stream, so it definately shouldnt be SS2 realted in any way.
