I am using MediaPortal to watch TV on a netbook, which is most of the time used for other purposes.
However, to watch TV I plug in a DVB-T USB receiver but I also have to restart the TV Service in order to make it detect the receiver. Such restarting operation is not so straightforward, so I wrote a small utility to do that.
In fact my utility actually keeps TV Service (and MySQL) stopped whenever MediaPortal is not use, starts them when launching MediaPortal, and stops them when MediaPortal is closed. This frees the resources reserved by these background services whenever MediaPortal is not used (and the DVB-T receiver is actually unplugged).
I have shared this tool to help similar users using MP for occasional TV watching: PanuWorld's MediaPortal Launch Shortcuts
Disclaimer: It is not 100% tested but seem to work at least on this computer.
