    Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

    EDIT: Is this string: <String id="504">Moon phase</String> supported yet? I have translated it in the Dutch language file, but the plugin is still saying; "Moonphase" Is that right?

    When I remember correct, you are using StreamedMP as skin. In this skin moonphase is still hard-coded.

    Change Line 455 in WorldWeather.xml from
    Code:
    <label>Moonphase</label>
    to
    Code:
    <label>#WorldWeather.TranslationMoonPhase</label>
    .

    But I have another strange problem.

    For me in Worldweather all is in German, except the weather conditions (sunny, cloudy, ...) and the wind (mph instead of km/h) but only on one of my two machines. Settings are the same, skin is the same, ...

    I attached two logs. One from the working and the other is from the not working translation.

    Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

    Hi Micropolis,
    I'm testing the last 0.2.9RC revision and I'm having the following problems:

    1) Day/Night switch Icons doesn't work properly (I'm in Italy and at 12.00am it's showed a night icon instead of day one). Old 0.2.5 revision works good.

    2) Sunrise and Sunset are 1 hour in advance than what is displayed in iGoogle (6:18 - 15:38 instead fo 7:18 - 16:38). Changing Timezone setting nothing happen (0.2.5 release and 0.2.7 preview works good for this issue).

    3) I've tryied to use IconDescription properties to translate weather conditions to italian (with translated string file, of course), but it seems that some icons are shared for more than one condition, so the result is a string like this: "Chance of rain/Showers/Smoke/Haze" (of course in italian that mean -> Possibili piogge\Acquazzoni\Leggera foschia\Foschia).

    4) Weather images for Temperature, UV Index, Wind, Precipitation and Suntime doesn't works (with same images address old 0.2.5 revision works good)

    Weekdays translation and animated weather image works good.

    I hope all is clear and can help for improvements (excuse me for my bad English)

    Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

    Hi Micropolis,
    Thanks for this great contribution!
    In 2.9RC under DefaultWide, I still see some minor problems with positioning of content on the screen (e.g. Google logo so high it is obscured by page title), of which you are doubtless already aware.
    There are also a few things that I miss:
    1. The number of locations supported. I travel a lot and was using up to 16 locations in the old plugin. I can do with less, but 5 seems very little to me, and I don't really understand why there should be a fixed limit at all.
    2. The ability to easily change the order of locations. Obviously, this becomes more important with increasing number of locations. As an alternative, you might want to sort them automatically by city name. This is what I used to do manually for the old plugin.
    3. The old plugin used to show the additional images one per screen. Aside from the fact that they don't appear positioned correctly for me in DefaultWide, the ones I like seem too small to be intelligible in the "tiled" view, even on my relatively large (46") screen. For my taste it would be ideal to just put each image on its own page, in the same size and position that you have done for the GeoClock and Starry Skies images. My favorite additional images come from a website in Switzerland which features excellent hour-by-hour predictions. Here is an example, for Basel. The URL can be built very easily from the Swiss postal code:
    http://meteo.search.ch/images/chart/<PLZ>.png?show=time,temp,rain&amp;lang=en
    where <PLZ> is the 4 digit Swiss postal code (Postleitzahl).
    That said, your new plug-in is a remarkable achievement: delivering more functionality than the old one in record time!
    Many thanks, and keep up the good work!

    Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

    Dear community,

    @Bleazle:

    1. Is it possible to add the option to "show wind speed in knots"?

    The current wind string comes from the weather provider directly. It is possible, but has a high error potential (extract value from string using the cultural settings, calculate, build new string, add new language properties...). Not yet, sorry. Maybe another planned provider has this option later.

    "]#WorldWeather.ForecastDay<digit>Wind

    Google doesn't support forecast wind information, so no chance at the moment. You can test this using the URL http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=Brisbane&hl=en.

    @Cruzer:

    On the images, instead of using http:/sitename/image.gif, is it possible to use file://hostname/folder/image.gif?

    Sure, but not with the next 2 major versions (0.3.0 and 0.4.0). But why do you want to use file:// and not a simple drive letter for this?

    @fischy667:

    For me in Worldweather all is in German, except the weather conditions (sunny, cloudy, ...) and the wind (mph instead of km/h) but only on one of my two machines. Settings are the same, skin is the same, ...

    I couldn't find any differences. To get the local weather provider page, the plugin checks the current mediaportal language settings from mediaportal.xml. Are there any different settings? Do you have tried the option "Forbid localized requests"? What's the result?

    Hm, strange. I had check the settings for Rome and all is working without problems. Could you please send me your weather profile (you can find this in folder c:\programdata\team mediaportal\mediaportal\worldweather.xml)?

    3) I've tryied to use IconDescription properties to translate weather conditions to italian (with translated string file, of course), but it seems that some icons are shared for more than one condition, so the result is a string like this: "Chance of rain/Showers/Smoke/Haze" (of course in italian that mean -> Possibili piogge\Acquazzoni\Leggera foschia\Foschia).

    Sorry, I don't understand your question/problem. Could you please specify this a bit better?

    4) Weather images for Temperature, UV Index, Wind, Precipitation and Suntime doesn't works (with same images address old 0.2.5 revision works good)

    Sorry, I couldn't reproduce this. What means "doesn't work"? Are these images not animated, not loaded? Which images do you use?

    @rsbrux:

    In 2.9RC under DefaultWide, I still see some minor problems with positioning of content on the screen (e.g. Google logo so high it is obscured by page title).

    I'm not the main owner of tis skin files. Maybe catavolt can help here better.

    1. The number of locations supported.

    The current weather provider doesn't support this. Do you want to display the location code only? If yes, please fill the field inside the configuration dialog and add the appropriate property #WorldWeather.LocationCityCode to your skin. Otherwise try another plugin or wait for next features of this.

    2. The ability to easily change the order of locations. Obviously, this becomes more important with increasing number of locations.

    You can use the button or context menu to easily switch between locations. Is thi not easy enough? To sort the locations, it is required to chance some core routines. A lot of users are waiting for a stable release. Because of this, I don't want to implement this now. The limit of 5 locations is not a problem, I must change only 1 line of code to give you 1000 and more.

    Maybe later, but not within the current development cycle. Currently I'm in discussion about options with other members.

    Interesting to know, but not planned yet. Maybe later, if I had reached the next milestone (Yahoo), we can discuss this again.

    Best regards, Micropolis

    Language setting in Mediaportal was in both the same, "German". But on the working one this option "Forbid localized requests" was deactivated. On the not working one is was activated. So the problem was not problem. It was a error build by myself. :sorry: :oops:

    Thanks for your patience.

    Hi Micropolis,
    as for your request, attached you can find my weather profile file.

    for issue 3), due to the fact that the plugin still not support localization for Italy (I wonder if you could add it as soon as possible), I've tryed to use translated strings from n° 70 to n° 91 of xml strings file, but the results is what you can see in attached screenshot.

    for issue 4) image are not loaded (into attached weather profile file you can see which files I'm using).

    Thanks

    Hello Marduk,

    Italy is fully localized. The best way to fix the string problem is to use #WorldWeather.TodayCondition and ForecastDay<digit>Condition instead of #WorldWeather.TodayIconDescription and #WorldWeather.ForecastDay<digit>IconDescription.

    for issue 4) image are not loaded (into attached weather profile file you can see which files I'm using)

    really interesting images, because the URL has a .png extension, but an internal image marker for .gif file. In this case, the skin engine cannot display this correctly. The only way to fix this issue is to save all files into one main format, but this can result in the same effect of non-animated images as before.

    Cheers, Micropolis

    Hello!
    I tested your new release today and it works great so far! Thank you!

    But i got one thing: I think condition "Clear" shows 36.png which should be condition "Sunny" in my opinion. Condition "Clear" should be 32.png.

    So:
    Clear = 32.png
    Sunny = 36.png

    What do you think?

    Or is it already that way and my eyes are too bad? =)

    EDIT:
    Is it possible to get km/h for wind also with english as language selection in MP? For now I have to switch to German as language to see wind in km/h.

    Hello holzi,
    Normally Google doesn't know an image description like "/ig/images/weather/clear.gif". Could you show me the xml output from "http://www.google.de/ig/api?weather=<your location>&hl=de"? Please set <your location> to your home city, thanks.

    km/h in english version: As I said before, the wind string comes from the weather provider directly. Take a look to my first answer in post #324.

    Cheers, Micropolis

    Okay.. I see the problem. "Clear" points unfortunately to sunny.gif.
    Is there even a sunny condition in google api? Or only "Clear"?

    If there is a sunny condition its image points also to sunny.gif?
