So that would be up to the the actual "Team Mediaportal" devs that make the main software. I guess you are considered an independent developer? Maybe I will have to email them and see if they ever applied, I sent them to the sponsor application page.

Just happened to be looking to see if XBMC were using them yet. And bam there it is on the front page as of yesterday Wunderground is providing their weather Welcome sponsor: Weather Underground | XBMC

The consensus of Team discussion was, if it meant having their logo on any screen that showed weather, then it was a no go, meaning all basichome screens.

It was also said that Weather should be left as a plugin of choice for users, much easier to keep up to date, and not relying on the MP release cycles.

I'm sure the WorldWeather one will be top of most peoples choice, especially using more providers and a mpei final version (is anything final around here) appears.

So again thanks to Micropolis for coming to the rescue.

    Hi Micropolis,

thanks for doing such a great job.. I think that this plugin is een better than the original weather plugin..

Here is an up-to-date Dutch language file for version 0.2.9 RC.. (I did also changed some "old" strings)

    :D

    German Translation.

And for all translators : Daylight saving means not daylight. It means that Daylight saving time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Also know as "summertime".
I saw it wrong in the Dutch translation, so be careful.

So "Daylight" means "Begin of Summertime" and "Next Daylight" means "End of Summertime".

I'm not saying this is not a good plugin, although some people may have problems with it. And I don't see what the problem is with having the logo on the the home screen as long as it's not huge. There's a BBC weather plug-in why can't there be a Wunderground one? That way someone that doesn't mind the logo can use the service. Then again I guess you still need someone willing to make it.:(

    Hi fischy667,

thanks, you're right.. :) I used google translate for some strings.. Daylight is on google translate; "Daglicht" and that's how it is in the language file.. But you say; "daylight saving" and when I put that into google translate it says; "Zomerijd" (summertime)

So, didn't see it.. But it is fixed in the attached file!

    :D

EDIT: Is this string: <String id="504">Moon phase</String> supported yet? I have translated it in the Dutch language file, but the plugin is still saying; "Moonphase" Is that right?

I don't understand why you necessarily want wunderground as provider.. Did you have test the latest version of this plugin? Works like a charm! Is that site giving more information or something? All things I want to know about the weather is this plugin giving me..

Or is wunderground giving better weather?? ;)

I tested wunderground website and it does not have all the German cities I get with Google and especially with Yahoo. And I really don´t uinderstand it either why there is such a strong "promotion" for wunderground...

Google API does not support all well known conditions, the granularity is not high enough. Because of this, only a subset can be matched directly (e.g. Smoke, Haze and others match to the same). This results in a description like "Chance of rain/Showers/Smoke/Haze". The only chance to get better results is to use a weather provider with higher granularity and matching factor.

    from earlier post Micropolis

Wunderground would be future proof, if a deal is made with them personally. If you google, google's weather .api, lol. It is meant for iGoogle and gadgets. And is unsupported for public use, although some people are using it. If Google ever decides they don't like everyone using it for public use. They could pull it just like TWC.

Like I said this is a good plugin and it's getting even better.:D I would think the WU .api supports more conditions and satellite images, and would be a great plug in, that's why I would like it as a provider.

Micropolis - 2 questions regarding the wind:

    1. Is it possible to add the option to "show wind speed in knots"?

    2. Add a #WorldWeather.ForecastDay<digit>Wind property?

Very handy for those of us who are into kitesurfing :D

    Cheers

First of all, great job on the plugin! Better than the original. I hope you continue to develop the plugin and make it into an even greater one. Thanks.

So now the question. On the images, instead of using http:/sitename/image.gif, is it possible to use file://hostname/folder/image.gif? My internet connection is not too fast, so I have a scheduled task on my server that does a wget for the images I want. I can bring up a web server if necessary, but being able to access the image using file:// would be simpler.

    TIA.
