Re: AW: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

Anyone got nice satellite images not only from ZDF. (I didnt find the sun times image there tho; anyone could give me a hint?)
    Thanks!

A good source of satellite images is EUMETSAT.
If you can read it, this is probably the best one. Since I can't, I kind of like this one.

    Hello Holzi,

I would also consider to wait with the final release.

I can accept this, but I'm not totally happy with this. Why? A lot of contributors of this thread has the knowledge to install builds directly, but in the background I'm thinking about the users, which download a version only from the repository. Means, these users has a very old, not well translated and more buggy version for a longer time.
I suggest to update the repository with version v0.3.0 and, if it is time, I'll put a newer nightly build into a special post. Under these circumstances, the repository users has the chance to get a more stable (but not complete stable) version and the experts the last build.
    That's my 2 cent.

    Cheers, Micropolis

Hi Micropolis, did you see what I said about this?
    Hello Dragy,

    Hi,
With 0.2.9 I can't get dynamic images to show up. With 0.2.5 they did show, but they didn't move. Now they don't come up at all.

the current version support "direct" web images only, means there is a extension like .gif, .png, .bmp or .jpg. Between the releases, I had change the download logic to support animated images. I could introduce the old download routines again, but not for the next major release. It's a bit risky, because I must change the logic behind. Please understand me, but I'll put your request on my backlog.

    Cheers, Micropolis
Why is an extension such a problem? Do you base the image type (png, gif etc) on that? In case that's what you are doing, have you ever heard of MIME types? When you request the MIME type (image/jpeg, image/png etc) of a file, it doesn't matter which extension the file has, because the MIME type stays the same.
I have some web development experience (and a bit C#) and I think there is no difference in getting data from an url whether it have or haven't an extension.

Please, say if I'm wrong :) Thnx

    Hello Dragy,

Hi Micropolis, did you see what I said about this?

sure, yesterday in the evening I make some tests outside of the plugin development, but the routine isn't stable enough yet. I have put this to my backlog for the next version.

    Cheers, Micropolis

The official translation of "waxing" is "wassen" or "wassende" But that's really old Dutch.. I've looked at what wikipedia said, and they talked about "Afnemende maan" .. I think that'better, because that's the opposite of waning crescent (afnemende halve maan) (Wassende maan - Wikipedia)

Also crescent means "half moon" (halve maan) and gibbous means "full moon" (volle maan)

About the quarter; you translated it with "kwartier" well, both translations are right, but I think they mean "kwartaal" in this case

I can not totally agree with you: 'kwartier' is the official translation and used term for moon phases. (See also Schijngestalten - Wikipedia)

I can agree with 'Toenemende', but the translation for 101 and 103 should be switched. ('Toenemende maan' comes before the moon reach the phase of half moon)

    Can you agree with this?

Switch 101 and 103? Well, I think the developer has to do that.. The translations of it are right to me.. Because what I say; "Crecent" means "Halve maan" and "Gibbous" means "volle maan"..

You're right about the kwartier thing.. I thought it was for the seasons.. (kwartalen) but for moonphases It's kwartier indeed.. :)

    Dear community,
the refactoring of sunset/sunrise routines was finshed, the new API gives more precise results and, based on my regression tests, no errors anymore. Please test the version from here with different cities and continents.
I'm waiting for your proactive feedback.

Important hint to WorldClock users: due to this changes, the previous version of this plugin raised a exception. Please upload a new build from the first post of WordClock thread or from the repository.

Small side note: Thank you very much to all translators, but some discussions and posts make this thread unreadable. Is it possible to discuss translations on a personal way, e.g. by using private messages? Thank you for your understanding.

    Cheers, Micropolis
