Would anyone like to write me a plug-in/app? (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty sure that Ihaven't overlooked a plug-in that does what I need already, if I have please accept my apologies and point me in the right direction.

I need the ability to, from within MediaPortal, have a keyboard shortcut either: focus another currently open window on top of MP (I don't need to have MP in always on top mode if it makes life easier), brings another application into a "window" within MP (I don't know if that's possible), or, ideally, checks to see if an application is running - if it's not, start it - and then focus it on top of or within MP.

If this could be configurable so that different shortcut keys could do the same thing with different apps I guess that would be more usable to more people. What about if alt+i launched Internet explorer (or alt+f for you firefox users) within a window inside MP? Or launched the app of choice on top so that you could use, find what you wanted and then close it without having to 'leave' MP.

Is that even do-able?

Any help would be appreciated/showered with praise.

Thanks

Conrad

Try girder. That allows you to capture any type of event (incl. Remotes) and start programs, send keystrokes and lots more.

I use the IR server suite with keyboard key strokes. It seems very flexible as I have it send a url to a cgi script which turns on my outside lights. You can start apps with it and have marco's if required. maybe minimize MP and then start you app.

    Thanks for the replires

I did try girder, without much success though. I was able to take control of the volume sliders within my soudcards volume application but not I wasn't able to move them relative to their current position. I also tried focussing the mixer using a macro application that minimized mediaportal. This stalled TV viewing which was just too clunky.

I'll take a look at the IR server suite, although I'm using a keyboard and mouse rather than a remote.

Is the ability to focus an app on top of mediaportal with a keyboard shortcut not something that can be done easily?
