xml TV guide from file (1 Viewer)

Hi,
Have just installed the TV engine 3 & all seems to work very well, except I cannot find how to get the TV guide to be read from an xml file. There seems to be no TV3 specific posts on this - I may be missing something but is this possible with the TV3 setup?

Hi Jason

In the TV server set-up you need to select Plugins option in the left pane (at the bottom of the list) and then tick the XMLTV check box to enable the plugin.

Then expand the Plugins option and select the XMLTV sub-option in the left pane (under plugins) and there should present in the options on the right the facility to browse to the tvguide.xml file. This should be pointed to where your tvguide.xml file is (probably under your MediaPortal folders rather than TV Server ones).
It is probably best to have this in the XMLTV folder under Mediaportal as I think this contains the other file by default that is required to import the tvguide.xml.

After a minute or so the TV Server should import the file.

Obvious wasn't it....

All set up, and the TV engine console is reporting an appropriate number of channels and programs imported, but the MP TV guide still seems to be grabbing EPG from the broadcast - only some channels available and those that are differ in format from those in the xml file.

I have the same channel names in the file as in MP.

Any suggestions?

you may have those channels you scanned ticked to receive the epg from the dvb-t stream. Its a default setting after you do a scan that these are ticked, you just need to go into that section and make sure there all untick

I have the same problem. I am using WEBEPG to update tvguide.xml. If I open the tvguide.xml, all shows are listed. I have unticked the checkboxes for DVB EPG. The path to the tvguide.xml file is OK. In the TV-server import EPG log statistics, all fields are empty. So, why is the TV-server not importing the tvguide.xml?

Have you ticked the checkbox to enable the XMLTV plugin in TV Server set up, as it is quite easy to miss (as I have done in the past)?

the usual case of doing too many new things at one.

I uninstalled MP & server & SQL & reinstalled in stepwise fashion.

When I had installed MP, I realised that GetOZTVGuide that I had just started to use does not successfully change channel names in the xml file (at least I cannot get it to) and the resulting changes resulted in an xml file that could not be read.

Now I have server & all installed and am only using the GetOZTVGuide to get the xml file.

Fingers crossed I have not stuffed something else up.
