I have been using mediaportal for years,a great software, but never been active here on the forum;) , im also building media pc for friends and older people. with mediaportal installed.

Im looking for a way to get epgdata, with a good source, and not using a grabber to get the data. Here in denmark we can buy xmltv data (epg) for only about 15 euro at year.

Now Im working on, a way to import xmltv.xml file from ontv.dk (Pro user), im a user of TDC Cablenet here in denmark, and using Floppydtv to get tv signal.

let me know if any have a soloution for this

For danish people:

Læs venlig denne tråd og kom endelig med bud på løsning http://ontv.dk/forum/429

    cool.

Well, I guess the ontv service provides u with a static http or ftp URL pointning to the xml file.
    right ?

if so, then it would be very easy to extend the xmltv plugin in tve3 to grab it from a remote source (ftp/http).
currently it only grabs locally from the HD.

So the http URL is probably containing userid, password etc.
It's important that the URL is static and the same always.

Yes you need a user url to grab the file 1 time at day, but it's very good way to get the epg, and the owner want us to help it out, just need to contact him.. about the grabber and so on

i have PM you with info in danish, just let me now if you can read it in danish;)

    Is the file standard xmltv?

WebEPG should be able to read it.

Have a look at these config files as examples:

    GB\3-www_bleb_org.xml
    AU\6-minnie_tuhs_org.xml

When I open the URL in firefox then it doesnt give me proper XML formatting.
If I view file source, then I have the XML layout.
    it looks ok.

Try and view the file source.

Also I have asked the author (Laban) of the xmltv plugin (v2) for tve3 to implement the possibility to retrieve a file from the web at each user defined interval.

(I could do this myself also....)

Ok I've implemented the possibility to schedule a remote file transfer (ftp / http).

Useful for ppl who pay for a xml subscription or maybe shares one with a friend. etc.

    get the next SVN.
in xmltvplugin, find the new tab called "remote".
enter a URL as u would do in Internet Explorer.

Last but not least, specify a schedule time.
As u can probably guess, the tvguide.xml file is retrieved once a day on this defined time interval.

I've been running with this the last few days :)

If u use FTP u often have to enter user and password.

These can be entered just like in IE.
    ftp://user:pass@ftp.mysite.com

    anonymous FTP;
    ftp://ftp.mysite.com

Great!! Very good new info, now we need to make a guide to ontv.

I was also looking on another way to do Download the xml file

A program named xmltv GUI can to the same ..look here http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

BTW make a scheduled task with this line, will do it every day to "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XmltvGUI.exe" /grab /silent and remember to name the file tvgiude.xml and the place to store it

But have the tool in MP is GREAT!!

Good work.. looking forward to try it
