Xvid Video's freeze when resuming. (2 Viewers)

last night i uninstalled k lite codec pack (ver 2.88) ,and installed ffdshow and haali media splitter ( have never gotten my one mkv file to work and probably won't) and now everything is hunky dory again

So all is well in tangmonster's living room again. (except for the one mkv file ,but i am not worried about that one too much)

Thanks funky chicken was having no ends of problems reinstalled windows countless times. Not upgrading to media player 11 did the trick.

I am having the same random freezes. No WMP11. Thus far only on xvid videos. No codec-pack installed. Followed the Codec Guide (by Goose) elsewhere on this forum.

I have played around with various settings and it seems that I have found the setting that is causing the problem on my system/setup.

Use nonsquare mixing.

When checked - I have not yet received the problem with about 15 resume-playback.
When unchecked - I am receiving an error every few times I try to resume playback from previous point.

I had (have?) this problem too. In September I installed the DirectX August release and then it seemed solved. A few weeks ago I updated my nVidia drivers and there it was again, so I installed the DirectX November release. It seems gone for now... I keep my fingers crossed.

Maybe it's worth a try to update DirectX if you haven't already done so.

No more ideas :-(
Last time I noticed that it happened more frequently if the Xvid avi files have different audio formats. For example: I watch a file with mp3 audio, it completes and then I try to start a file with AC3 audio and it just hangs, only ctrl-alt-del and killing MP in the task manager gets me out of there. Nothing interesting on the logs either, as far as I can see.
I Never have these problems with other formats like the 720p H.264 mkv files

Same problem here, and no solution. Each time i try to resume, blanck screen and i have to reboot. I have tried to change the ffdshow version, to reinstall MP, to reinstall all windows XP... and nothing to do...
