I can only suggest you map a remote button to subtitles. [and yes I do find new MP versions breaking skins rather annoying]

Same situation, touchscreen only pc in the kitchen. I had to give up, could not find a skin that supported touch only. Would be interested in anyones experience to the contrary.

I had found with fullscreen gaming, so may or may not apply to fullscreen video, that the 'Taskbar' needs to be on the same monitor, even if hidden. This was the case for me regardless of which monitor was primary.

I use task scheduler to launch JMM server with elevated permissions.

I had a dozen or so of these 'ghost' files also. They cleared up after running 'Remove missing files' under the server tab. Or did you already try this?
