    You need to research my "My System" (oh and BTW, please fill in yours) because I'm running the AN-M2HD uATX which has only the one PCI-e/16 and being a 2007 vintage it's version 1.0 as well, yet I'm back strong after upgrading to a N9500GT. Spend $25 and get a new card...

    Damn, this thread is to long for me to read everything 8but big thanks to the devs for clearing up choices made).

    Anyway, stumpled across these thread which might be interesting (they only refer to BOB/weave instead of VA @ ATi, but I thought it might be worth pasting anyway)
    Details: A severe bug in ATI display driver in Windows Vista and Windows 7 for deinterlacing 1 - AVS Forum
    Summary: AMD Game Forums - A severe bug in ATI display driver in Windows Vista and Windows 7 for deinterlacing 1080i video using Vector Adaptive (VA) mode.

    Notice:
    As far as I am aware a future driver will take care of this issue, not allowed to say which one though.

    Sorry, meant to say my PCI express slot is 1x. So that video card won't fit... There are a few 1x cards, but they aren't $25.

    I am shocked! I thought ALL uATX boards had 4 slots - usually two PCI, one PCI-e/1 and a PCI-e/16. No? What make/model is yours? Another option is simply to replace the mobo with the ASUS M3N78-EM and reuse your CPU/RAM... what are they? The 8300 may do alright if the CPU is decent... Otherwise you could use an external player for recorded 1080i, but your LiveTV is not gonna do any better. You could consider reverting to MP 1.0.0.0 which was the last version to write the display to the surface... No /16 PCI-e slot... really? Hmmmmm.... Oh well, I tried!

    Ok, I'm a moron. It does have a 16x slot and a 1x. Ok, will look into video cards. I can't find a N9500GT under $55 though. Where did you get your's?

    No problem there... I'm glad to help! I use Newegg and have since 9/2003 when I built my first PC. As of last Month MSI had a $30 MIR but I see even the $25 (after $30 MIR) DDR2 version (I'd linked in earlier post) is now $45 after only a $10 MIR. As you may know, PC hardware changes price nearly every day... keep looking and you'll find a deal. Do look at the Missing Remote article (linked earlier) so you understand which chipset you want... so far I'm very pleased w/the N9500GT.

    Be SURE to look at the heat sink/fan on ANY card you buy -- many actually overhang the adjacent slot and depending on your mobo (and your other cards) that may not be possible. The one I bought is a single slot/no overhang design.

    @dale77

    Press shift+! watch TV3, tell me what the fps rate is, it should stay between 49.5 and 50.5 (ignore avg fps), also tell me what % of total frames are dropped and what the jitter is. PS - I'm not sure if shift+! works in evr or not.

    Ah, interesting feature. It does work with EVR it would seem. What is that white line that tracks across the screen?

    EVR 50.01 avg fps 0.0 sync 0 drawn: 22434: dropped: 87 jitter: 0

    The 87 dropped frames came from the start of watching, the only things that move are "drawn" and EVR, which did drop to 49.87 once.

    It's to check for tearing - the line splits into two disconnected parts if tearing occurs.
