with the new version its working only now is the left button not correctly in place.

That's because you didn't generate (or added manually) the code for rss support.

If you have the rss ticker version of WindowsPlugins.dll and don't have the right controls in your BasicHome it causes an error in the dll. If the error is thrown the animations aren't run.

    Hi,

is the version in the SVN release folder obsolete?
I am missing some features in there I've read about in this thread (graphical menu position feedback, open folder dialog for backdrops ...). Where can I download an up-to-date version?

    Thanks,
    Shukuyen.

Sambal should be uploading an up to date build to the repository shortly. That should have all of the features you're needing.

Okay, i've uploaded a new version to svn.

    Changes include:

Lowered minimum nr of items to 3, the way it was originally. Because of the way the crowdingfix worked this wasn't possible. Changed it to allow for less items.

Added support for the RSS Ticker plugin i created.

    Usage:
    Start aeon_editor.exe.
Select File->Open Aeon Folder and select the Aeon wide folder in your MP skin folder. After this a list of available screens is loaded in the left list.

    To add a menuitem:
Select the screen the new item should start in the left list.
Item Name: The name for the menuitem as it appears on screen.
Folder: The folder containing the backdrops shown when this item has focus. If you hover your mouse over the textfield a list of default folders is shown in the status bar.
Time per image: Number of seconds the backdrop is shown before fading to the next.
Random: Randomize order in which backdrops are shown.

Press Add>> to add the item to the right list. The right list indicates the menu the way it will be generated. Use the up and down arrow buttons on the right side to change the order of the items. You have to tick one of the items. The ticked item will be the default item selected when you enter MP.

    Global settings
Focus item colour: Text colour of the menuitem that has focus
No focus item colour: Text colour of the other menuitems ;)
Menu Y Position: Position on screen where the menuband is shown.

    Plugin specific settings
If you have the RSS ticker by JakeyMouse or my own just tick the appropriate box to generate needed the controls to make the plugin work.

When you're done press Generate to generate the menu.

    That should be all.

I'll be uploading this version to the tools section shortly. In the mean time you can download it here.

    Hi there,

First of all thanks for this great program!

I am having difficulties with the generated BasicHome.xml however.
There are just 5 items in my menu bar at the default position with the default font: weather, tv series (default), music, movies & pictures.

The problem is when I scroll to the left, there are 2 items overlapping on the button directly to the right of the centered highlighted button. This does not happen when I scroll to the right.

I would've enclosed a screenshot if my remote desktop connection would handle MP normally, but it doesn't run properly over RDC. Anyway, it would be nice if you could look into it. It's probably as easy as cutting and pasting at the right place and I have looked at the xml file myself, but it seems sanskrit to me.

    Kind regards,

    Dave

PS: I enclosed my BasicHome.xml file, hopefully it can be of any use.

I downloaded your BasicHome.xml but it is working just fine. I've tried scrolling left and right both directly after starting MP and when returning to the main menu. And just some scrolling and moving to the upper menu and some more scrolling. It looks fine, no overlapping text. So i must be overlooking something. If you could manage to get a screenshot somehow that would probably make things a bit more clear.

Two quickies, could you have the RSS Image maintain it's aspect ratio and move the RSS String a bit to the left and widen it ;)

Oh, and one other thing - now that you've moved from a gfx based menu to a text base one I can't seem to get the Acens font to display at a decent size with good quality. It seems that XBMC renders fonts a lot better that the current MP system, or is it just me.

I've attached a pic of what I'm trying to achive, any ideas, and yes the shadow is intentional :p

I must have overlooked your earlier post, sorry for that.
    Two quickies: Can do.
The drop shadow can be achieved by adding a dark version of the original label. Let it render first with a offset of 1 px. I'll modify the menugenerator to optionally render shadow, just to see what it looks like. It is easier to modify the menu generator to generate a new format than it is to modify the basichome.xml by hand :) You still have to rely on the MP Font rendering system.
