Dear skinners/modders,

I am enjoying this skin very much. There is one thing bothering me though. The main menus for movies, music, etc... (basic plugins) are all vertically centered in the middle of the screen, as you can see in Sambal's & trevor's screenshots. Why is this annoying? Because the backdrops are usually high quality photos/posters which have their most important information (the head/torso of a movie's hero) either in the middle or at the top, never at the bottom. Having the menu in the middle makes it hard to see the most interesting part of the backdrop.

Is there any way for these menus to be at the bottom, like some TV-series xml files have it? If the bottom space is reserved for some overlay (like 'now playing music'), can this overlay be moved to the top? I ask you this because I am not too handy with xml myself.

Play with these in the listcontrol in references.xml:

or add them to the list control in common.facade.music and common.facade.video for a more targeted colour change

just to double check, based on my searches of the forum, is it not possible to change the color of the text while its highlighted?

Right now I am to turn the color of text to black, but of course once the black bar moves over it, you can no longer read the title

Yeah, that's right (as far as I know) - it's a bit annoying from a skinning perspective. I would be nice if list controls had a "no focus" colour like buttons etc...

Hi,

I saw on many screenshots that the backdrops are matching the currently selected movie/music album.
Was this a matter of patience until the right backdrop appeared until you took the screenshot or is there a possibility to synchronize the background image to the data shown?

I know it is possible to have a set of images for each category (movies, music ...) but is it possible to get this even more specific?

I hope you get what I am talking about

I know what you're talking about, shuyuken, you're talking about Fan Art for movies & music, which is an excellent idea!

With movies, I guess you can use the IMDb number as a unique movie id to couple the movie and art. For music, it's a bit more difficult as there is no such database on the web to uniquely identify artists and their albums. Well, there is the CDDb and Freedb, but there not really useful in that aspect.

fforde is developing a new movies plugin which will support backdrops (search the forum for "moving pictures" or "tv series sister plugin") so this will be a first step.
I just wondered if it is already somehow possible with this great skin.

Dont know how well this works tho, havent tested it myself. I remember reading something about running out of RAM due to every image beeing loaded into ram while you browse your movies. I can see this beeing a problem with 3mb .bmp's and 500 movies, but with a high end media center you should be ok.. Or if you use .jpeg/ have a small movie collection.

I would be the perfect skin for it, I know I'd love it!
Maybe it would be possible the have the fanart + IMDB info "focus" after a second or 2 of staying on the same title, like on the xbox

Is there any way to remove the TV, DVD and Plugins buttons from the basic homescreen? I've been tryin' to change the basichome.xml file but it doesn't work. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it!

1. The Mini-TV in basichome is blocking the new nice weather plugin that sambal did.
2. The "Control"-buttons (exit mp, play..) are blocking the date & time in the TV screen (check the pictures in the url)
