I know but I would really prefer to use the main menu "TV button" . I want to make my HTPC my main attraction in the living room and in order to get the approval of the wife I have to make it as user friendly as possible.

you are right.. I spotted why it's not working. For what ever reason, the 3x recently added / watched for TV series, etc was killing it.. I've removed it for now and it's started working again. I'll have to dig a little deeper as to why it's happened all of a sudden.

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

When I first start watching a TV program the timeshift functions works perfectly. I can shift back and forth in time and it works...
