about FormattedTitle

Hi,

I've just tried the new version of AMC Updater and I found a bug about FormattedTitle.
I've deleted the Default Settings XML and import somes news films.
AMC Updater store the OriginalTiltle in FormatedTitle even if a TranslatedTitle is present.

I've verified for a lot of films and it's the same : FormattedTltle contains always the OriginalTitle.
Can you please check this on your side

Can you please confirm which Internet Parser file you're using, and let me know a couple of sample movie titles I can test with? I just tried IMDB with a few foreign-name films (Lola Rennt and Pan's Labyrinth) but it returns the same name for both Original Title and Translated Title!

Finally had the time to test the last version. It works very very well. Yet having to start a new library i faced a little problem. I was wondering do you use a regex to "decode" the filename or folder name? I ask this question because my folders and files name are "title (year)" and i was wondering i you could get the year and use it to refine the internet lookup. That way for imdb search, most of the time it would be direct and i wouldnt have to interact with AMCUpdater.
What do you think?

Like MovingPictures, Is the AMC Updater going to support themoviedb.org (TMDb) | The open movie database (for thumbnails and backdrops)?

Moving Pictures is working really great at that point, and the covers it can find is 100% better looking that the ones AMC Updater picks up...

So is it planned that AMC Updater can support themoviedb.org (TMDb) | The open movie database ?

Furthermore:
Theese functions would i like to see in AMC Updater
* Not case sensitive letters, numbers in "Scan Filters" If i insert HDDVD, and i have a folder found with the name hddvd, AMC Updater does not pick up the HDDVD!!
* Ability to set the program to scan folters instead of filename! Ex a folder is named: Mad.Money.720p.BluRay.x264-iNFAMOUS and then the filename (directly unpacked) is named: inf-mm.mkv
Of course the program cannot pick that up!

Hi Carmenm, glad you like the new improvements!

I don't currently 'parse' the filename; merely clean it using the RegEx expression. So normally that would be neatly removing the year, but not using it.

At present the Internet grabber component doesn't support using the year as a 'hint' for the search, though that's a decent idea. The existing grabber does use the Director field of Ant for updates, though I've never really tested that bit as I didn't write the grabber.

Maybe a future version of the grabber will support this, but we'll have to wait and see! I think it would be ideal if the grabber supported a unique ID hint of some kind, such as the IMDB MovieID - I assume that other movie sites have something similar, though I have no experience beyond IMDB in this respect.

As I understand it, the next version of the grabber should support grabbing movie data and movie pictures from separate sites. Please send lots of happy thoughts to Titoftit, the author of the grabber!

I'll fix the case-sensitivity of the scan filters - should be quick and easy to do. Sorry - I thought it was already case-insensitive.

For the second request, there's an option on the Database Fields tab which lets you choose where to look for the movie name - from the movie file itself or from its parent folder. Have you tried that yet? If you use a mixture of both, then I'm sorry but the program really can't tell if 'inf-mm' is the correct movie name or not!

About the case sensitive problem, i think this its working now that i have changed the program to look for the filename inside the folder, instead of the filename now > Sorry i haven't seen that you could change that from the beginning...

For the grabber - I'm not sure when the next version will be available. I can ask...

For your first problem - I'm sorry but that sounds normal to me. The accuracy of the lookup varies between different movie sites, and IMDB often returns several options in the search, like you listed. AMCUpdater will only automatically approve the movie selected by IMDB if only one movie is returned. For your example, the first two results have the same name, so there is no easy way to auto-approve that. The second one is the video game by the same name, by the way.

For my collection, the auto-approve option works for about 10-20% of my titles at a guess. For the rest you have to select from the list. Again, this will improve with later versions of the grabber.

And finally, for the problem with MyFilms - please post that back in the main MyFilms forum! It does sound familiar though, so maybe have a good read first as maybe it has already been discussed.

1- If you have the pugue option checked, then the moved files will be deleted, not updated.
2- A request: I would like if the option "folder name as group identifier" would be applied also to moved files. So, if I move "underworld evolution" from the parent folder to a subfolder called evolution, then the translated title would be updated from "underworld evolution" to "underworld\underworld evolution"

Eeek! That's not good. I'll get that sorted.

Hmmm - maybe. I see why this would be useful, but need to be careful as that logic is pretty important to everything. It might be easy to do - I'll have a think.

I've just looked into this, and have added a new option to 'always use first movie found' for Internet lookups. This may of course not always be the best option, but it will certainly reduce the amount of mouse clicks needed! Not perfect, but better for now until the new grabber is ready. The change will be in the next release following testing etc.
