Both usecases seem a bit odd to me...

a) Control aMPdroid with a bluetooth remote
Why isn't the remote control just emulating key presses? Should I implement custom support for receiving bluetooth commands just for aMPdroid? It might make sense for voice commands, but that should be supported anyway when (at some point) I add support for google voice.

b) Relay the bluetooth commands to MediaPortal
Why not just connect the bluetooth remote directly to the pc where MediaPortal is running

Please correct me if I understood something wrong...

This has been some days back but let me clarify: unfortunately English is not my first language so some things may come out as convoluted...

So let's say that I own a Galaxy SII phone with MHL support (that's not really my phone/setup but it serves as a good example). And I have laying monitors around the house. With one tap (thanks to ampdroid) I can have all my content on my phone and through the MHL display to monitors/projectors what have you across the home or even the globe (if one is dedicated enough to create a streaming server). All is great and good and actually works exactly as intended. The problem starts if one wishes to control this content remotely. It's impossible to do so unless one owns a bluetooth mouse (because it has a pointer that can do the selecting), but a bluetooth remote is out of the question...

What I find mostly strange in Amproid's case is that all the other players from which you can select your media (MXPlayer for example) they do have HID support (i.e. selecting different items, highlighted via point arrow pushed either in a remote or a KB). That's also a natively supported feature in Google's interfaces as well as most simple apps. A problem seems to be arising when a layout seems to be "on top" the highlighted area (it's not easy to explain w/t the technical lingo that I sadly lack), so as I wrote in my initial post "HID support is out".

In my case I want simply to be able to remote control my tablet (via a bluetooth remote) so that while doing something else I can change between my media which may play on the background w/t me having to go to my tablet several meters away each and every time, think of it like changing a song on the playlist all done remotely with a few taps. I can have this with all media handlers apart from Ampdroid which seems to be the most able.... Why on my tablet and not directly to the PC actually running MP you may ask, but that's of course because the family already uses it; so for my viewing I have often to rely to my trusty tablet.

If it's hard to fix I can undertstand, but seeing how much it exists out there (even in the simplest of apps) I'm made to think that maybe it's simple like "checking a box" in "layout creation". If that's the case it would be a welcome addition even if few are to use it, if not -like I said- I can understand...

edit: Here's a random picture of what I mean by "highlighted area due to the use of hid device"
http://www.prlog.org/10836334-android-hero-g3.jpg
(the yellow highlighted area is being selected via the use of the trackball w/t touching the screen, no different that what a bluetooth remote can do *if* "highlighting" is supported).

Just bought the pro version and I'm very happy. My only complaint/bug report is that aMPdroid doesn't display all of my current music in the music tab. Albums I added today are not showing up. Any reason?
Sounds like a problem with MpExtended... Can you check if the music shows up in this link: http://127.0.0.1:4322/MPExtended/MediaAccessService/json/GetAllMusicAlbumsBasic

Okay, I figured something out. In the music selection, I have "Artists", "Albums" and "Shares". The data populating "Artists" and "Albums" is outdated, and when I click on an album or artist and press "Play on PC" from either of those screens nothing happens. If I navigate to "Shares", select "Music", then I can see a text list of all of my music that is accurate. Long pressing on an album in this screen and playing on PC works just fine, however I cannot view album thumbnails at all in this view.

Also, to have anything populate the "Artist", "Album", and "Shares" menus, I had to edit the media.xml file to point to musicdatabaseV11, instead of V12. V12 was just a 2KB file while V11 was 3 or 4 MBs.

Is there any fix to be able to see my proper music in the "Artist" and "Albums" menus?

Hi I tried to install Ampdroid. the old Version works perfect. But the new with MPextended not. I cannot stream. I get a message that I use a MAC Adresse for WOL. The Remote works perfect after a reboot of my PC

4322 is for the WindowsFirewall on the server, for the fritzbox you should open 8080 on the server

For GalaxyS2 (and possibly other Samsung phone and tablet) users who've switched to ICS:

Keen S2 ICS users might have noticed I've been looking at the issue with the internal player for a while. I think I've isolated the problem but, unfortunately, I couldn't successfully hack in a fix (which really isn't a good solution anyway) using aokp sources. My understanding is that you can code around the issue with the videoview wrapper because it's the way which you're expressing it that brings out the bug. Here's the kicker: not really sure what that is :p. There's so little code that's working vs non-working to compare that I can see. So few people code anything like this. I'm trying to keep my eye on what the Samsung devs are saying but they don't make much sense and don't seem keen on fixing it is so....

Use "Dice". I've found it easily the best in tandem with ampdroid. Until I can point DieBagger at an easy solution there's nothing he can do as it's a bit much to expect him to research a way around Samsung's bugs. I will keep watching though.
