Both usecases seem a bit odd to me...
a) Control aMPdroid with a bluetooth remote
Why isn't the remote control just emulating key presses? Should I implement custom support for receiving bluetooth commands just for aMPdroid? It might make sense for voice commands, but that should be supported anyway when (at some point) I add support for google voice.
b) Relay the bluetooth commands to MediaPortal
Why not just connect the bluetooth remote directly to the pc where MediaPortal is running
Please correct me if I understood something wrong...
This has been some days back but let me clarify: unfortunately English is not my first language so some things may come out as convoluted...
So let's say that I own a Galaxy SII phone with MHL support (that's not really my phone/setup but it serves as a good example). And I have laying monitors around the house. With one tap (thanks to ampdroid) I can have all my content on my phone and through the MHL display to monitors/projectors what have you across the home or even the globe (if one is dedicated enough to create a streaming server). All is great and good and actually works exactly as intended. The problem starts if one wishes to control this content remotely. It's impossible to do so unless one owns a bluetooth mouse (because it has a pointer that can do the selecting), but a bluetooth remote is out of the question...
What I find mostly strange in Amproid's case is that all the other players from which you can select your media (MXPlayer for example) they do have HID support (i.e. selecting different items, highlighted via point arrow pushed either in a remote or a KB). That's also a natively supported feature in Google's interfaces as well as most simple apps. A problem seems to be arising when a layout seems to be "on top" the highlighted area (it's not easy to explain w/t the technical lingo that I sadly lack), so as I wrote in my initial post "HID support is out".
In my case I want simply to be able to remote control my tablet (via a bluetooth remote) so that while doing something else I can change between my media which may play on the background w/t me having to go to my tablet several meters away each and every time, think of it like changing a song on the playlist all done remotely with a few taps. I can have this with all media handlers apart from Ampdroid which seems to be the most able.... Why on my tablet and not directly to the PC actually running MP you may ask, but that's of course because the family already uses it; so for my viewing I have often to rely to my trusty tablet.
If it's hard to fix I can undertstand, but seeing how much it exists out there (even in the simplest of apps) I'm made to think that maybe it's simple like "checking a box" in "layout creation". If that's the case it would be a welcome addition even if few are to use it, if not -like I said- I can understand...
edit: Here's a random picture of what I mean by "highlighted area due to the use of hid device"

(the yellow highlighted area is being selected via the use of the trackball w/t touching the screen, no different that what a bluetooth remote can do *if* "highlighting" is supported).
