Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

I just realized i can only browse my shares in music view. When choosing artists, i get no results. When choosing albums, i get 'loading failed, check your connection'. When choosing songs, again, no results.

What version of MediaPortal are you using? You must have a MediaPortal music database for the Artists/Albums view.

Hi - great work - will give this a try on the advent vega tablet as soon as I get chance!

Do I need to be on the new alpha version of MP or will it work on the current release?

Also, it's worth putting this on the android market (if you haven't already) I know there are people that scan around forums like this for apk files then they upload them to the market as their own and charge for them, once they have done this it seems to be very hard to do anything about it, just upload it as a free app if thats what you want to do then you can always change the pricing later if you decide to charge for it.

Or a better idea might be to put your app on the market uploading it as a “draft” so that while it isn’t visible on the market, the name will be locked for you permanently.

    worto.

The only thing I got working was the TV-part (never tested streaming).

I was able to connect to the wifi-remote with the democlient, and I could check the gma-services worked OK,
but the android app just refused to work, tried changing the logins and passwords to be the same but still no go.

Maybe should mention that I do not use a single-seat installation, I have a separate TV-server.

DieBagger, Thanks a lot for this excellent app which fills an important gap in MP.

Here's some feedback regarding my installation process following your instructions. I am running MP 1.2.0 Beta on a Windows 7 client. The TV server is installed on a server running Windows XP. Windows firewalls are turned off on client and server.

    • Installation of TV4Home on the server went fine. Testing returns true.
    • Installation of .net 4.0 and GMA Service on the client went fine. Testing returns the expected string after entering the right credentials (User ID: admin; PW: admin).
    • Installation of WifiRemonte on the client went fine. After entering the Wifi Remote setup in MP Configuration, I tried to install bonjour by clicking the respective button. Nothing happened, though. I therefore installed bonjour on the apple web site. Now, the setup dialog says "Bonjour already installed". Testing the installation with the demo client showed that the setup is correct. I use the "No Authentification" method.
    • Download and installation of the APK file on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 went very confortably using the tag on the download page.
    • Starting the MP aMPdroid app went fine. I miss the QR barcode on the setup dialog in MP configuration, though. Therefore, I had to set up the connection manually.
    • I am able to connect to MP on the client and to use your app as a remote control. I am also able to connect to the TV4home servic as I can access the EPG. I am not able to connect to the music and movie databases, though (the message "No connection to service" appears). I tried to de-/reinstall the app, remove/change the client settings, add the right credentials admin/admin to the GmaWebservicee, remove the credentials in the C:\Program Files\GmaWebService\config.xml file etc. without luck.

    What else could I try?

    Thx, G.

I'm using 1.1.3 with music database.

I also had some problems with installing. But with this steps it should do.

    • Install .net 4.0 from microsoft
    • Use authentification in WifiRemote, choose an username and password
    • Edit C:\Program Files (x86)\GmaWebService\config.xml with your choosen username and password and with windows7 you can only edit while coping the file to some other path, edit and than copy back and click ok to administrative rights
    • Reboot the system or restart gmawebservice

After this steps it should be no problem to connect to movie-db.

I think your config-screen don't save same constellations like advanced config. And now the good things:
    • Fluent Remote-Control, better than for example iPimp. The whole app is really fast. I like that :)
    • Layout is great, also maybe Remote-Control Buttons up and down could be bigger
    • How are the movies sorted? Maybe more Views, like in the MovingPicture.
    • @Series-View I have entries without Banner and Text, when I click release date is 1970-01-01 and no informations

All in all. Really good app. The Best at the moment I saw for android. Don't testet streaming and downloading. :D for your work and free release.
