    Tv streaming is already working, but only with the direct rtsp stream that the MediaPortal clients are using as well. There is no transcoding (yet). On my phone (HTC Desire HD) with 54g wifi this is barely working (I have to be very close to the router). I suspect that with draft n wifi this would work way better.

    Good news is that there is already work ongoing to get transcoding working as well.

    I think what people want most in the music section is to be able to control mediaportal without actually having to turn on the monitors.

    So you should be able to:
    * control the running track (seek, start/stop, volume, ...)
    * browse the collection and start a track
    * manage (create/delete/edit) playlists
    * have a nice now-playing screen

    Some additional functions:
    * preview (stream) the track on the device
    * download a track/album to the device

    More ideas?

    Yes this is exactly what I would want. There should be abilty to toggle shuffle/sequential play.

    It would be good to support multidisc albums, or at the least when viewing an album you should order by disc# prior to track#. Maybe the device can use the same views that are defined in mp configuration, or alternatively you could support the two most commonly used views by users which would be (artist -> album -> disc# -> track) or folder based non tag view. If the album had only 1 disc # defined then it would just jump immediately from album -> track (as what is supported in the new MP 1.2)

    The only additional things that you havn't covered above is maybe my lyrics support, but that I think is more of novelty value. Mediaportal also has an artist/album info that gives you information on the artist or album, but again i think this is more of a novely wow thing, rather than a useful thing.

    For the implementation I can think of two ideas

    * Short press on item navigates into that item (eg. album artist -> album -> track)
    * Long press on item gives context menu which could contain the following
    . - Play now (This would create a new playlist with that artist/album/track and start playing)
    . - Queue item (This would queue the artist/album/track to the end of the current playlist)
    . - Download item (This would transfer all the artists tracks, or the album or the track to the device, to a predefined directory using a predefined tag based folders eg. /sdcard/music/%albumartist%/%album%/%track#% - %artist% - %title%.ext)
    * Hardware Menu button
    . - Choose view
    . - Playlists : Create new playlist / Load playlist / Delete playlist
    . - Toggle shuffle
    . - Toggle repeat
    * Swipe left / right could switch between Browse music / Playlist / Now Playing Screen

    (or)

    * Short press item will play the current item
    * Long press item gives context menu
    * Swipe right / left on item to navigate into an item or to go back to parent item

    ---

    Now playing screen should have ability to rate current playing track as well as showing track info (Artist / Track Title / Album) and also Next Track (Artist / Track title). It would be nice to show the album art +/- artist image.

    ****

    Anyway these are my thoughts, which hopefully will help with ideas for implementation when you do the music part. :D

    artist -> album -> track

    I would prefer "album artist", because I have many compilations.

    A bit offtopic:

    Why lyrics? You are from New Zealand, so I asume you can understand what most artists are singing.
    Or do you prefer german "Schlager" :D

    Rating is something I will never understand. I only store stuff I like.

    yes i should of written album artist, i'll edit it.

    Lyrics: Just bc it's there and available, actually it would just be an extra I would hardly ever use. It would be useful if you wanted to sing along without mumble the words :)

    Re: Web found

    Today i found on the German Version of Engadget an Universal Remote with an Android OS, may that where an absolute all in one solution.

    Universalfernbedienung Andi-One ist ein Android-Smartphone ohne Mobilnetzanschluss - Engadget German

    I saw the "ANDI-ONE" yesterday too on another site (english this time)
    Conspin introduces the ANDI-ONE, the world’s first Android universal remote control

    It does look very interesting, as it's the first android device I've seen with IR and RF. I still think ampdroid would work well on the andi-one as the app currently functions, but it may be worth looking into how to utilise the IR/RF capabilities of this in future developments to enable control of other hardware. In my case this would be great as I control the volume in the living room with the amp rather than the PC

    In my experience, the HTC HD's WiFi is crap! My old Spica (i5700) is much better. Perhaps soneone with another mobile can try.

    I'd rather see AMPDroid have support for the HTPC's IR blasters. My IR Blaster commands use LMRemote which can execute IR blasts from the commandline. I use this to Turn on/off the receiver and +/- volume on the receiver.

    If someone sends me a sample I would happily add support for the special functions of this remote.... ;)

    I have absolutely no clue about this stuff, so someone has to give me an idea of how this can be integrated in the wifiremote plugin first.

    aMPdroid statusupdate

    Hi guys,

    I've been a bit quiet lately because unfortunately I didn't have much time to work on aMPdroid. Now I could finally spend some time on the project again and I made some pretty good progress.

    I mainly improved the remote-control section because I felt that this needed the most attention. Here's a list of noticable changes lately:

    • Now-playing layout (sliding drawer) with image support
    • Connection handling (connect/disconnect) to mediaportal client
    • Set position of playing item with slider
    • Fulllscreen mode (configurable)
    • Autohide for Statusbar (show always, show never, show when connected, show manually)
    • Softkeyboard to send keys to pc
    • Authentification

    And here are some images to go along with it:

    ampdroid_remote_1.png ampdroid_remote_2.png ampdroid_remote_3.png ampdroid_remote_4.png ampdroid_remote_5.png ampdroid_remote_6.png ampdroid_remote_7.png ampdroid_remote_8.png ampdroid_remote_9.png

    There have been lots of improvements and bugfixes in other sections as well. For example, every text that is used in ampdroid is now translatable. I will do a call for translators when all sections are implemented (music and pictures still has to be done).

    I also played around with different color schemes, as I'm not fully happy with the current one (It's a bit too dark). The following screenshots are from a short test with a more blueish color scheme:

    1.png 2.png 3.png 4.png 5.png 6.png 7.png

    I would very much appreciate the work of a good designer as my skills in this area are very limited. I anyone wants to help out here, please shoot me a pm!!!

    We're getting close... ;)
