Yow...

as stated before, ur remote looks very very very promissing. However, from the above screenshots i cannot actually get a good impression on how the remotecontrol section is going to look like. From what i can see now, i looks like the remote-section is missing (still) a lot of keys (?). Can you put-up a screenshot of the remotecontrol section?

Why not try to get more the looks and feels of MP (BLUE) (by perhaps using MePo in your start/selection screen)?

( BTW have you been in contact with Kroko lately??)

Keep up the good work!!!!!!

greets Thundercat

You can see the remote control section on the fourth screenshot... It has the most important buttons (at least for me), which are the keys (left, right, up, down), enter, back, info and switch fullscreen. Additionally you have buttons for start/stop, prev, next and volume control in the statusbar and a slider to seek to a position in the video/audio file on the nowplaying screen. The other buttons can be accessed in the "More Commands" menu. I personally think that too many keys are bad for the usability because you have to always look at the screen to see which buttons you press.

That said, I'm not inclined to offer a second layout that is more like the one used in krokos remote (lots of buttons).

I initially wanted to use the mepos on the start screen (the ones on the blue3 basic home) but it took a while to get the graphics so I ended up making the current buttons the way they are now. I would like to make the style similar to the official facebook android app with blue actionbar/statusbar and a whiteish middle section.

Haven't heard from kroko in a while, guess he's busy with real live at the moment...

Personally I like the simplistic layout for the remote control screen. Does the home button on that screen take to the home screen on the android device or does it take you to the home screen on the PC? The only other button I currently use a lot my remote is for the TV EPG, if this project was just to create a standard remote control I'd suggest adding a button for the EPG, but I don't think it'll be needed if the EPG can be displayed on the Android device itself. is the EPG feature going to be added to the app?

    Fantastic work btw!! :)

Home brings you to the MediaPortal home on your htpc of course. To get to the app home you have the upper left icon... ;)

The epg information from the tv server can be displayed in the app itself (tv section), although I haven't yet found a way to start playback of a specific channel directly (working on it)...

Another idea I'm playing with is for context-aware extra info on the remote screen. So if the tv fullscreen is running on the htpc you'll get a list of all channels on the remote, if you're in a list the remote will display a list with all items you can browse on the mobile directly, if a dialog opens you can interact with this dialog directly on your mobile, etc.

So many stuff todo, so little time... ;)

I was hoping the home button would act in that way :)

Interesting ideas with the context aware stuff. Can't wait to see how this project progresses!

    Re: Web found

I'd rather see AMPDroid have support for the HTPC's IR blasters. My IR Blaster commands use LMRemote which can execute IR blasts from the commandline. I use this to Turn on/off the receiver and +/- volume on the receiver.

I have absolutely no clue about this stuff, so someone has to give me an idea of how this can be integrated in the wifiremote plugin first.

To support lmremote you would just have the following options in setup, I think this should explain it. There is also the IR Blaster built into mediaprotal/tvserver, but I have no idea how it is used.

[X] Run external command (eg. IR Blaster) instead of system volume when vol + pressed
    ["C:\program files\lmremote\lmremote.exe -volplus"]

[X] Run external command (eg. IR Blaster) instead of system volume when vol - pressed
    ["C:\program files\lmremote\lmremote.exe -volminus"]

[X] Run external command when power button pressed for receiver
    ["C:\program files\lmremote\lmremote.exe -pwrtgle"]

looks great so far. Really good work.

I would like to see the feature to store the playlist which has been created on the android-device into the playlist-folder on the htpc. I don't know whether this feature has been mentioned yet. If so, just a little reminder :)

    [EDIT]
additional to that a second suggestion: Creating a playlist on the android device and uploading the chosen mp3-files to the device would be mighty fine
    [/EDIT]

Maybe this plugin is usefull if you want to play with context-aware info:

Diebagger - Nice work you are doing here. :)

I came across an idea for your project......

Any way of creating a Remote Barcode generator for Ampdroid? That way, you can create your own 2D/Matrix barcode with all settings predefined?

2D/Matrix Barcode could be displayed in MePo or printed out, and with a single click, you'll have the app installed - ready to use with no configuration at all.

Will ease the process of having several guests wanting to browse through your your Video, Music, Pictures within seconds - You are basically de-centralizing the Remote and Screen.

Then you make settings within Ampdroid to personalize the "Remote control" skin for individual usage - could furthermore improve WAF....they hate all those buttons:)

So what about playability - Several remotes/guests could end up fighting for that special song or channel........Lock it all up with permissioning or Queuing:-P

    Just an idea.........
