Sorry 'bout that!

Here's an updated Pocket PC executable that'll allow your full IP address.

As for remote display, I'm sure we all want that :) If the remote code works out to be useful, the display code will definately be the next task.

    Hi CodeShack!

This sounds great - unfortunately I'm not at home atm and can't try this out.
One question though: What method do you use to get your information over the network? Is your MP-Plugin a Webserver? Just curious...

Thanks and keep up the great work!

The MP plugin opens a listening TCP/IP socket (on the port you specify), and listens for clients.

The protocol implemented is very simple - it's simply the command name(s) using a period (.) as a separator/terminator. The command names currently used are the "code" attributes from the XML definition here:

    Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\defaults\IrTrans mediacenter.xml

So to send "Down, Down, OK" you'd simply open the TCP/IP socket and send:

    down.down.ok.

I decided to go this route so that the server plugin is generic - you can front end it with pretty much any platform/client you'd like.

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned, but Sony Ericsson provide free software to allow people with Sony Ericsson phones make custom HIDs for their mobiles.

The software if very simple to use. I made one for TV control from my mobile. All you need to do is map the phone keypress onto the appropriate keyboard keypress :)

    Hi people,

I know i practically left this plugin a while ago because of work, but i am willing to pick it up again because I have some time.

I don't know if anyone else has started to develop this plugin or not - or something similar.

Is it still worth me doing?

I checked where I was and I am at the stage that I have basic functions, up, down , ok....my music....my tv....etc, but thats it at the moment.

Could anyone point me to any active plugins that do this sort of thing?

    Thanks.

    EDIT:

stupid me -> just read above.

    Hi guys,

I think I'm searching now around two years for the "perfect" mediacenter software. On essential point for being perfect is that I can pick and choose my music without switching one the TV. After some experiments with a small secondary TFT display I came to the point that it makes more sense to use a display or device that is already available. So in my opinion using a PDA or a mobile is the best solution for that.
So the question was what do I need to be displayed on this remote. In my opinion that are the central features:
    - Playlist
    - Actual playing
    - Coverart
So I began the search for a Mediacenter with this capabilities:
    - XP and VISTA MCE with NetRemote can
    - LinuxMCE does
    - Xlobby comes with a great PDA remote interface
    - ITunes can be controlled with Salling Clicker in a great way
    - Media Portal does not have any stable solution for this
Honestly besides these requirements Media portal is unbeaten - it has a great TV engine and a great range of features and plug-ins. It is nearly possible to configure everything with MediaPortal but its a shame that there is no equal functionality. If anyone has a glue to achieve this goal I would greatly appreciate this efforts!

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I have been trying to find a similar application so that I can have a touchpanel PC such as this controlling each Media Portal Client in each room. The only things I would like to see on the screen is something similar to this

Any Suggestion would be greatly accepted.:D

what we need is an interface that returns strings such as current module or song title. that way we could easily create a bi directional remote control, and its not hard to do that (see salling clicker)

im confident i at least could do that for fma, and other programs dont work much differently.

is there any such interface around? like a COM interface? that would be perfect.

if anyone knows anything, i appreciate it :D

    thanks
