    Hi.
We urgently need something like this. All other HTPC software incl. Windows Media Center have such things so you can expect this as very useful.
I've tried it with some .bat to send magic packet to my NAS and also put it to sleep (by psshutdown) when I don't need it any longer. Works like expected. Thanks a lot, I will never miss this again.

Imho this should go into "core" MP2 package after adding some "eye candy" like search for programs and probably some kind of icons for the apps to launch... This definitely is a feature that has to be part of the "main" program...

    I agree 100 % with @Lehmden on this!
(And I'm glad I am not the only one who sees it this way....)

We need this bad for MP2 - along with Spotify! (Do I dare...? Yes... @seco :D)

Great progress! (y) We might create WorkflowContributors to make the apps appear in menu like inbuilt features

Suggestion: Kill command - a way to exit the launched app.
The idea is good. Unfortunately not so simple.
All keys are sent to the new prossess. MP2 do not know which keys are pressed.

    My Idea:
i create a "Keybord hook". Then all the keys also available in MP2.
Now we can say, if pressed e.g. ESC longer than 2-3sec, use this as Kill Command.

    @Developers Any other Ideas?

Killing the process by MCE-remote would be good, but ESC on keyboard will do for me as well. ALT+F4 is low in WAF (from my experience).

Currently I am using a plugin for Chrome where I've set ESC to be ALT+F4, but unfortunately it sometimes fails.

Another suggestion: Stop media if app is launched (just a checkbox addition).

I've been wanting a plugin like this for a long time! :D But where does everything go? Whether I put the plugin in process or windows I get this error

    Code:
    ---------------------------
    Plugin Manager
    ---------------------------
An error occured while loading the plugin file AppLauncher.dll.

It's broken or incompatible with the current MediaPortal version and won't be loaded.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------
I also copied the language folder and skin folder to program data/mediaportal etc but have no idea where plugin.xml goes either.

Also I'm using MP 1.6 final
