Am I reading this properly that ATI finally corrected the issue?

no there are issues...
mediaportal cant play any video on my win xp with ccc 10.2. i got the error "Unable to play". but the WMP plays all videos. so i thing the codecs are ok.(saf400+qt alternative)

This does sound like a codec issue to me.

i have realised that i can watch videos without problems (not the unable to play error) if i use the evr instead of vmr9 renderer.
i have now ccc 10.2 legacy and saf500 codecs.
can anybody tell me how to solve the vmr9 problem???

I have solved the problem...
i had set the /3GB switch in boot.ini. therefore mediaportal could not play videos with vmr9 renderer.
now all works. win xp + ccc 10.2 + saf500

Can you please confirm there is no more freezing/flipy issues out of the box?

I had the freezing problem only with older drivers but i dont know with which...
with 9.11 legacy and 10.2 legacy i had only the unable to play error caused by the /3GB switch in boot.ini
now there are no freezing problems. (with win xp, 10.2 legacy without ccc, only driver but i think with ccc there are no problems too, saf500 codec)
