Another report on the Dvico Fusion 5 USB tuner and the 4-26-06 SVN.

No changes in behavior since 4-14 SVN for me.

When I first start watching live OTA HDTV (w/timeshifting off), it looks (Fox @ 720p) great/sounds great. When I change channels, the new channel tunes but audio and video are badly out of sync. After the initial channel change, I can't change channels again. Uploaded log to pastebin.

Crickert could you try using the Mpeg2Dec video decoder and the Mpeg/Ac3/... audio decoder?

Problem is worse using those decoders. video is choppier and audio is out of sync by about 1 to 2 seconds. Best results are with Dvico's DXGA video decoder with Dvico's AC3 decoder. I've tried many other decoder combinations - Nvidia, FFdshow, Cyberlink, etc, etc.

Results with Dvico's decoders are the best out of all combinations but far from usuable with mediaportal.

I'm pretty much new around here. Used MP off & on a while back but have been using GBPVR with one PVR-500 for a while. The wife finally got tired of me researching TVs and told me to get one so I will be recieving my 42 in LCD sometime this week. I'm in Torrance, CA and visited a neighbor over the weekend to check out the number of OTA channels and couldn't believe it. I was just going to stick with a HD-DVR box from Time Warner but now I'm excited to do some geekin' and ordered a VBOX DTA-151, Another Hard Drive for the HD content, and a Geforce 7900GT 256mb to drive the new display and for the muscle behind playing back HD content.

I plan on trying out MP again as so much looks to have changed and I'll compare the results against GBPVR's ATSC performance and see what happens. I love how active the community is here and how far the software has come...the installer package has made great strides.

Anyways...just letting you know you'll hopefully have another ATSC tester if all goes well.

I did have scheduling, recording, and the Guide set up was using the Fusion 5 Lite. I had to use the Mpeg2Dec Filter with the Mpeg/AC3...or FFDshow Audio Filter so that there weren't audio/video sync issues. But it was working. And unfortunately, recent SVN builds broke it.

There have been no changes to the TV code recently, so I'm wondering if something else is at play here such as when Framerate drops to 0, there is a No Signal Detected! pop up. SOmetimes MP does not recover from this. There appears to be other issues too (I took this from an IRC chat the other day):

(16:51:34) (sw1fty) going to playing the graph through graphedit and see if it stayed in sync
((17:07:10) (sw1fty) ok, been playing thought graphedit for about 15 mins now and audio is out of sync..
(17:08:10) (sw1fty) audio is playing ahead of the video by about 1 sec..
    (17:13:13) (C64|work) hmm
(17:13:20) (C64|work) so it is not realted to FSE
    (17:13:22) (C64|work) that's good
    (17:13:27) (sw1fty) videos just stopped
    (17:13:30) (C64|work) yep
    (17:13:33) (sw1fty) graphedit has hung
(17:13:45) (sw1fty) just like inside MP when it reports no signal
(17:13:47) (C64|work) ...so that means it's a OS thing and not a MP thing?
(17:15:14) (sw1fty) guess so, no idea where we go from here though..
(17:15:57) (sw1fty) my system is dead now, just like when mp looses signal.. only way to get back from this is to reboot

It's very frustrating, but the TV Devs have been busy with other issues in real life so there hasn't been a lot of time for them to address these things. Hopefully in the next few days we'll get some feedback. In the meantime you can keep up with things by checking these mantis bugs periodically:

Sorry, guys...I wish I had better news...Stay Tuned.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know what the last version you had working was? Is downgrading the answer here, or were there too many other bugs in those older versions?

With RC4 and the 4-23-06 SVN, Audio and Video sync problems are gone for me using Fusion 5 Lite and Vbox DTA-150. If I use the Mpeg2Dec decoder everything works fine with or without TS. If I use NV codecs, I cannot change the channels or MP crashes (with TS on),but I think this is related to the No Signal Detected issue (bug 697).

Dvico FusionHDTV 5 USB tuner card options to choose

Very new to this software and trying to use it for my card.
I have a Dvico FusionHDTV 5 USB tuner card and I would appreciate if any one can give me the options that I should select while installing the MediaPortal. Also I read some where in this forums that ATSC support is provided via OTA (Aerial) not via Cable. Is there any work around like autoscan the channels as if the tuner is hooked up to a antenna.

    Thanks
