Thanks for the response Moab,

The software my cards comes with is terrible. With it I cannot view any digital channels, but with MP I can view digital channels and even one HD (720i) channel. It could be the card, but it's confusing because both my card and MP are inconsistent.

Yes, you were right. I discovered later that there were a number of TV channels listed as Radio stations. I can edit the xml file to manually make a Radio station a TV station, but all I get is the sound. Is it possible that my codecs are causing the problem? I am using ffdshow for H.264, audio, and MPEG-2.

When I try to view the channel, I get the following entries in tv.log:

Ok, I reinstalled windows xp with sp3,
1. added catalyst 8.5 drivers (to support dvxa)
2. installed the current hdtv wonder drivers from the ati website.
3. Installed MediaPortal RC3 and dvbfix

The card was detected fine but same issues in Media Portal as before. I setup WatchHDTV and it tuned perfectly. Just for the heck of it I installed all the ATI junk including the Multimedia center and even the ATI software can't work with the card! excellent.

I bit the bullet and ordered a Hauppauge HVR-2250, dual hybrid pci-express card. I'm excited to give this card a try and hope it works better than this ATI piece of junk! :) Thanks for listening.

How did the 2250 work out for you? Do you use the ATSC tuner? I'm in the planning process for building an HTPC. My main goal is to record HD OTA (ATSC), and MediaPortal and the HVR-2250 seem like they would do a great job as long as they work together.

Thanks!

Thanks!

The 2250 worked excellent. I had no problems in MP watching tv, recording tv and playing back the recordings. I use the SAF (stand alone filters) pack by Hoborg, found here;

I only used a single tuner for now, haven't quite figured out the setup of the two tuners, I'll hit that when I get to that stage of my build project.

Thanks for the response. I'm curious if anyone has successfully used both ATSC tuners in the 2250 with MP. That's what I'm wanting to do in order to record two OTA HD shows at the same time. If it can't be done with the 2250, then I'll just get the HDHomerun instead.

:D

I'm using the 2250 just fine with both ATSC tuners. In the setup on tvserver, channel scan with both tuners it finds, follow the instructions from moab about the guide, and you are good to go. (I disabled the ntsc tuners, not sure if that would have any effect). My wife recorded the bachelor while I recorded 24 last night, no problems.:D

I'm having issues with my ATSC tunner, i have an Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1600 with the latest drivers. I'm running version 1.0 (stable) of MP and the TVServer. I got it to scan for channels and it found them but i have some random issues with it. Sometimes i'm able to view those channels, other times when i select them MP locks up. Also when i go into the TV server configuration and select the card to scan again the configuration locks up. I should say that it doesnt work most of the time, i have to reboot my machine several times before it will work again, and then it will just stop working after a little while. I'm not sure which log files to post, here is the system it is running on:

Motherboard MCP61P (ELITEGROUP)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz (Dual-Core)
1GB DDR2, 320GB SATA II HDD
Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1600
ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/512M GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16

Any thoughts?

What is your channel signal quality? When my signal drops out, I do notice MP does not handle it all the time correctly...but then sometimes neither does my OnAir GT USB tuner. My one FOX channel will work great but then bam...no signal and sometimes MP doesnt pick it and and ask to tune previous channel.

Just a thought and that is ALL it is.

    Ditto.
Poor signal quality messes things up with my 1600 card. If so then try a signal booster and better antenna.
I did read that a txt file in C:\ will stop it re-polling the channel to get a better signal. Sadly I cannot remember the file name. It was something like ChannelNoRescan.txt. Can anyone recall the file name.

    RE: EPG...

OK, I do admit I am a bit lazy to read all the posts in this thread...so what exactly is the problem with webEPG?

I think I have it working except for the auto - import (which could this be the problem?).

    My setup:
MP Config webEPG plugin NOT on. Use bat file to execute it manually daily.
Use IMDB to get all the XML data for 14 days for my zip code and provider (well OTA anyway)
Use XMLTV to update the database, plugin in TVServerConfig is ON
Does not automatically import...have to manually do so - but I have RDP so I do this from work.

I get full EPG and can record now. Previously I could not record because the webEPG plugin inside MP Config was enabled. But now i just schedule a bat file to call webepg.exe to create the XML file and manually load it into my XML directory.

Maybe I be a wee bit slow...???

HVR-950 showing DVBT instead of ATSC?

    1st Post. Great app!

Having an atsc problem though. Searched around, and I can't find something similar. I'm running P4 3.0Ghz, GeForce 6800GT, and two HVR-950 USB tuners (these show up as HVR-980 with the latest hauppauge drivers). Also using NVidia Purevideo for video decoder and AC3Filter for audio. When I first installed, everything went great, and I used the system without trouble for a week or so. These tuners are dual tuners with ATSC and analog. TV-Server-Configuration would recognize them, and there were two entries for each card - one for ATSC and one for analog. I disabled analog card entries because I don't care about that, and just used the two ATSC cards. Yesterday, I went to use it and it said there were no tuners available. I had nothing scheduled to record. Going back to TV-Server-Configuration, it was now saying the ATSC cards types were DVBT and the disabled analog card entries showed types of "Unknown". I fiddled around with restarting the machine, plugging and unplugging the tuners, rebooting windows, restarting the TVServer service, etc. And eventually it reconized them as ATSC cards again. I used it until today, and it's doing the DVBT thing again, and I cannot get it to recognize them as ATSC cards.

Frustrating, because aside from this issue MP has worked flawlessly on my system.

Any ideas or help most appreciated.
