Okay you*re right it works. The tracks are scrobbling and the auto-dj mode works, too. The quality of the tracks that the Plugin adds to the Playlist are very good. They are very similar to the tracks that already in the Playlist. very good work..

But there are one problem.. The Playlist won't refresh with the new added tracks, i don't see the added tracks. I must go back and open the Playlist again to see the new tracks. So I don't see the next song in the Now Playing Screen...

Okay i hope this will work with 1.2.3.
another question will the rework include special colours for the added tracks by this plugin ? so you cann see with tracks are added from the Plugin.

And it is possible that only tracks with a special rating wi9ll be added. So only tracks with a five-rating will be added, and only if nothing silimalr song with five is found it should use songs with rating four..then 3.... Is this possiblöe ?

any feedback on the scrobbling? Does this seems to be working ok? Does this seem any better / worse than the existing audioscrobbler plugin?
Has anyone tried the auto DJ stuff who does not have a last.fm account?

In German thread a few problems (discussion) here is my feedback!
    - About 10 trying to test
    - A title selected and exported to the playlist, and was immediately added a second title automatically
    - Title 2 play in the playlist of the series and the third was automatically added to title
    - Etc., etc. is perfect.

    hi jameson!

first of all thank you for improving the music section of mepo! (y)

i just tested your plugin, and noticed the following:

scrobbling works flawlessly! :) setup was very easy, tracks were instantly announced as "currently playing" on last.fm.
all tracks i completely listened to were correctly submitted, the other ones, which i skipped early where skipped, which is ok. i had problems submitting tracks with the original audioscrobbler plugin - so this is an improvement i think.

the auto dj mode is a nice feature!

    i tried the following:

    1) adding only one track to the playlist and start playback

result: pretty good auto-playlist, except the first song was played again on position 3 and 15. It occured that 2 Tracks from the same band were played right after each other, and it generally tended to play one band quite often, even though i have ~ 40 bands from this specific music genre in my collection. the playlist window in mediaportal was not automatically updated. i had to switch between now playing and the playlist window to see which tracks would be played next.
on my system it took about 15-20 seconds before the plugin added another song to the playlist.

    2) cleared the playlist and started to listen to an album on song position #7 by using the what you call "hidden playlist". after the last song from this album, it also generally added good suiting tracks to the playlist, but already the second track was song #7 from the album i just had listened to and it also tended to add most songs from one specific band - in my case iron maiden (ok....that's not a bad thing ;))

some general improvement suggestions and thoughts:

    - auto dj mode should be very easily accessible via the gui, to quickly turn this feature on and off.
    - i like the idea that tracks added by the auto dj mode are differently colored (or have a little indicator icon) in the playlist.
    - i'm not sure if i would ever want auto dj mode in the "hidden playlist" mode. maybe it would be best to make this optional for the different playlist modes.
    - by default, when starting mediaportal the auto dj mode should always be off. or an option (on/off/remember last state in plugin config)
    - an option how many songs should be added to the playlist would be good.
    - auto dj should prevent playing tracks from the same artist right after each other.
    - auto dj should remember which artists were played recently and prefer other ones (if available).

    [a little bit off-topic]

i once suggested a "shuffle" context menu entry, the more i think about it, the more i like the idea of an "auto dj" context menu entry:

it would be cool to start the "auto dj" mode on a genre folder in database mode via context menu. all songs from the selected genre get added to the playlist, are shuffled and playback of the first song starts immediately. or the "auto dj" context menu entry could also be used on an artist folder to mix only this artists songs and so on....

    [/a little bit off-topic]

that's all i noticed for now...let me know if i can help.

    greetings,

    martin

I have installed the Test Version 1.2.3 and it solve the problem with not showing the next song in the now playing screen. It shows now the tracks that are added for4m your Plugin. But it don't solve the problem with the Playlist. The tracks that your Plugin add to a Playlist isn't available in the Playlist. I must close the window and open it again. I think it is a problem of your Plugin because I think I can remember that the old Last-FM Plugin works. The auto added tracks are always showing in the Playlist.

Another problem is the repeating of the same track. I heard one track very often in one hour.

Attached V2 to the first post. Very little has changed but will now acknowledge that authentication has worked. It will also not add tracks that are already in the playlist

    feedback for V2:

no more double tracks - well almost ;)

these are the playlists that were generated for me - screenshots from last.fm - so you have to read it from the bottom to the top.

in the first one i only put the pearl jam song in the playlist and let the auto-dj choose the other songs for me:

    list1.png

the list was pretty good, but had a huge genre/stlye jump when it suddenly played system of a down/megadeth/trivium etc.
as far as i remember there was an option "avoid style drift" in the original plugin. something similar would be good.
also it did play 3 system of a down songs in a row.

the second one from today looks like this. this time i had blur, feeder and gluecifer in the list and let the auto dj choose the rest:

    list2.png

    2 things happened:

    1) somewhere in between the playlist mepo suddenly jumped to the first track that was added by the auto dj (sophia - portugal) and started playing the playlist from there again. so i had to skip through the songs to reach the right and newly added track. this happened only once yet. if it happens again i'll let you know.

    2) as you can see bloc party - banquet was played twice. i saved the playlist and checked the m3u, to see if it was really the same file that was played, but that was not the case:

    Code:
    #EXTINF:0,Bloc Party - Banquet
    \\192.168.1.200\Public\Musik\Martin\Alternative\Bloc Party\2005 - Silent Alarm (Limited Edition)\202 - Banquet.mp3

    #EXTINF:0,Bloc Party - Banquet
    \\192.168.1.200\Public\Musik\Martin\Alternative\Bloc Party\2005 - Black Session\03 - Banquet.mp3

It would be cool if the auto dj could also avoid playing different versions or locations of the same song - if possible.

BTW: It would be interesting to know more about the logic behind the new auto dj. me & my gf actually like it a lot - a good way to explore your music collection (y) we'll defninately leave it turned on!

It is actually doing this on purpose but it could probably be changed relatively easily to avoid this (actually did this because I have different versions of some songs, acoustic etc.) which I was not sure whether to exclude or not..

Is not very clever at the moment. All I do is use
    http://www.last.fm/api/show/track.getSimilar
If you look there is a link on that page for Cher. You can hack that link to be any artist / track and you get a list of similar tracks. I then go through this list, pick those that are in the local music collection and then choose a random one. It does this each time you start playing a song.

Having multiple songs by the same artist will be as a result of people playing albums. People who play track 1 on an album will often go on to play track 2 and therefore it will appear in the list of similar tracks. The shift is because people have played these tracks and the random choice has gone a little too far. I will about adding in an option to prevent straying too far (but I want to balance drifting and the possibility of running out of tracks)
