I have the refresh rate default at 24hz and it works great with switching to 50hz for a PAL movie on my HTPC but if I put in a PAL dvd it won't change refresh rate.

Anyone else with this problem and have any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks

    Hi there,

Have you enabled the "mediainfo" option under DVD in the MePo Configuration program?

Mediainfo is required to identify the details of the movie/DVD being played - so that refresh changer can correctly set the fps.

Brilliant thanks that worked like a charm!

I experienced some strange problem with MePo 1.2RC.
Sometimes, it switches to 25HZ when playing 23.976FPS content. I'm aware that to switch to 24, i need to configure 23 instead. However, this issues still occur occasionally.

Me again ;)! A new issue occures with "29,970 FPS NTSC HD"! This is the configuration of ARC
    Code:

NTSCHD

29.97

59

TV ist switching fine to 1080p/59.94! But the colours are looking grey and washed out and some menu items of my tv are greyed out after switching to this resolution!

If i disable ARC and configure resolution in CCC by hand to 1080i/30 NTSC HD is working fine!

    Best regards

    Helios

    Helios,
are you using profiles to switch or do you have the arc field blank by default?
Maybe you are only using the wrong name in your writing here, but are you only switching refresh rate or resolution as well? resolution changes should be avoided.
btw. what menu items are grayed out? which menu?

My setup is fixed at a resolution of 1080p. The refreshrate only is changed. I have less rules in the arc setup.
    23. 976 >23
    24 >24
    29. 97 > 59
    30 > 60
    50 > 50

    Regards. Ed.

Just a quick question, why need to configure for 24 FPS and 30 FPS? These two should never exist, instead I only configured 23.976 (24P), 29.97, and 59.94......

Hi, I have never used ARC before but I am fed up of jerky videos so would love to using this excellent feature. I have tried the defaults but it does not seem to want to switch resolution, although MP's OSD says it's switching the TV reports nothing has changed.
I have an Nvidia GT 430 card with an 50" plasma LG 350PK via HDMI. What would be the best way to set this up to work?

    Kind regards.

I have a client with a GT220 on a Panasonic Plasma where it works fine. Different from when it had an AMD graphics card I did not even have to define and call a batch to make change. It works 'out of the box'.

Of course you did try to change directly from the NVIDIA control panel and then it works?

Just to give you some encouragement, I have a GTX 460 connected to a LG60PK250 60" Plasma via HDMI and it works flawlessly out of the box!, so you should be able to do the same also.

As above, the first thing to check is does it work via the nVidia Control Panel?

The way I done this is like so. I find an example video and found out its refresh rate. Say for example the refresh rate of the Video is 25fps then I would go into nVidia Control Panel and set the Refresh rate to say 60Hz. I would then Open & Play the video - the video SHOULD be a little jerky as their is a refresh rate mismatch between the video and display. Now close the video, go back to the control panel, and set it to 50 or 25Hz. Then open the video again and you should hopefully see silky smooth playback. If so, everything is in good working order in terms of the connection between nVidia and your TV regarding refresh rate changing. If this doesnt work at this stage then there is some other annomally and is outside of MediaPortal's control, so you would need to find the problem, before you moved on to trying to get it to work in MediaPortal.

I set mine up some time ago now, but from memory, I just clicked on the checkbox to activate Automatic Refresh rate changer and didnt change anything else (ie. I left NTSC, PAL, CINEMA settings untouched)

When you are in MediaPortal and play a video, remember you can press Shift+1 ( ! ) and this will bring up a render graph which will give you visual feedback of what is actually happening (I think its the red bar that is of main importance), this in turn can help in discovering how bad the problem is / isnt.

But the main point is, try a video outside of MediaPortal first (I use VLC Media Player) to make sure changing the refresh rate via the nVidia control panel works, as if this does not work here, then it will not work in MediaPortal either.

    Hi Guys,

Firstly - I *love* this feature - it's one of the killer MP features IMHO.

That said, I'm having a problem with it on my new 3D setup.

I have an Asrock Vision 3D (which is awesome) and it has an nvidia GT425M video card. I've also got a Samsung 3DTV so I've set up the nvidia configuration to use stereoscopic 3D and it enables/disables perfectly through PowerDVD which is great.

The only problem is whenever I watch a video file that changes the refresh rate through Automatic Refreshrate Changer in MP it turns on 3D mode in the TV (regardless of whether the video file is 2D or 3D).

Which is a massive bummer :( right now the only options I have are to either disable refresh rate changer or disable the stereoscopic setup in nvidia - which are both a bummer.

Does anyone have any ideas why the refreshrate changer is turning 3D mode on?

Here's the part of the log that I can see:

    2011-03-12 11:19:55.050598 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: RefreshRateChanger.AdaptRefreshRate: framerate on file \\172.31.1.1\video\movies\General\American Gangster Extended Edition 720p BluRay DTS x264 DBO\American.Gangster.Extended.Edition.720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-DBO.mkv is 23.976

    2011-03-12 11:19:55.053598 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: RefreshRateChanger.SetRefreshRateBasedOnFPS: using internal win32 method for changing refreshrate. current is 50hz, desired is 24

(full log for starting movie attached)

Any other logs I can upload to help?

    Thanks very much :)

    Hi,
i have the same issue. Have you found a solution for that problem?
    Thanks in advance.
