Hi

I need to switch both resolution and refresh rate but I'm having trouble getting it working.

This is not supported in mediaportal!

I'm a bit confused as the first post refers to using a Powerstrip command line, which always contains a full modeline and not just the refresh rate.

As I say, the Action box is meant to take a commandline with parameters for a batch file, Powerstrip, etc.

The issue I have is that Dynamic Refresh Rate isn't doing anything when I play a video, so it doesn't seem to be detecting the refresh rate.

    Re: RARFileSource Issues

First I'd like to thank gibman for making this plugin, great work!
Before I had to switch the refreshrate manually to get rid of the judder.

I've been loving this plugin until I got hold of a directshow filter which I love as much as this plugin.
It is called RarFileSource (RARFileSource) and it lets you play mediafiles stored in rar-files on the fly.
But this directshow filter makes the refreshrate-changer-plugin unable to get the FPS from the mediafile.

So I have to either manually change the refreshrate each time or manually extract the videos from the rar-files.
I used to use ParnRar before until I discovered the RARFileSource.

I'm guessing that this plugin tries to access the media-files directly, and in this case it tries to get the fps from a .rar file?

Gibman: Do you think it would take alot of work to fix this?

Was there ever a fix for this problem?

An easy solution would be do add an file containing the required mediadata to the directory where the rar files are stored. And then let ARC check that file if mediadata is not found the normal way.

(yes, I'm to lazy to unpack the rar's :))

I recently switched to both using video and audio over HDMI and now Automatic Refreshrate Changer "on" gives me horrible lip sync issues (sync starts to drift almost right away). I have an NVIDIA card and run MediaPortal 1.2.2 in Windows XP, is this a known issue with a "quick fix" like using 12Noon DC or Powerstrip or should I start posting logs/bug reports?

When I was using my external Soundblaster card for audio and DVI-HDMI for video, I had none of these issues.

Edit: I have made .bat files to use Noon DC now and when trying to paste the link to them into the ACTION fields, some default values "CINEMA 23.976" or something like that is automatically inserted before my pasted link so I had to manually edit that out from the MediaPortal.xml. A bug, right?

    Cheers

Well no-one replied but I eventually found out that it only works if using a batch file, linked to in the Action box, and that a commandline with parameters in there doesn't do anything, so the tooltip/info is rather misleading.

Do you mean the current opening post is NOT correct anymore? It could be ofcourse, I havent checked it periodically. For me it works out of the box with the default changer (no batch file needed)

I was thinking more of the info in the actual MP window being incorrect, but checking the opening post it does suggest that we can put commandlines in the Action box, however it does also say "Option 2-5 are best to call through an external command file. This can be a .bat or .cmd file. IN this file you give the actual command to change the refreshrate. Advantage here is that you can give multiple tasks in the command file. Additionally you can test if it works outside MP".

I've only tried with Powerstrip, but putting the commandline for that in Action resulted in nothing happening at all, whereas using a .bat file works fine.

This might be cause by filenames and spaces not being recognized propperly in the path.

Using " " for instance could this help?
Here is an example I use in a random .bat file. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe"

Did you test this as well?

I'm aware of the need generally in Windows to enclose any paths with spaces in quotes, not just for MP, so I think I probably did try that but it was a while ago so I couldn't swear on it. I'll try it again when I get a chance to check.
