another thing that was irritating me when using powerstrip, is that if u were forced to reset your htpc because of a lock-up or similar, then upon reboot powerstrip would always start up with a prompt telling the user that a problem was found and if he or she wants to continue. It demands user interaction, before powerstrip is loaded and thus ready for commands ... not good when u have MP auto starting on boot.

By default, PowerSrip will display a warning if it detects the system as a whole, or PowerStrip in particular, was not shut down properly. On the off chance that the problem was caused by some PowerStrip display configuration setting you had in effect, you are given the opportunity to correct the problem.

If you want to disable the safety precautions, here's how:


1. Close PowerStrip if its running
2. Open the pstrip.ini file in Notepad (the pstrip.ini file is in your PowerStrip folder)
3. Add the following line under the [Global Options] section:

[Global Options]
NoSafetyChecks=1

4. Save the file back to disk and restart PowerStrip

gibman, Hi there, because i use a "resolution within a resolution" i have to use the ATI Catalyst profiles, is there any chance of fixing them so they work again, i'm having the same problem with version 0.5 and RC3 as Edterbak and mdsflyer

@5hunderd... Ghehehe.. Right now I dont have this problem anymore... ATI card is broken
My new ATI card is under way, (NVIDIA sucks with under/overscan) But I might try the solution with 12noon resolution switcher as Gibman points out. If there is no device reset, this could also solve the problem with the MovingPictures plugin at the same time.

EViS. I presume you mean this "Automatic Refreshrate Changers" program. I would advice against it. Gibman alters the some files which are from the mediaportal program. Each Release Candidate and/or SVN version likely uses a different Core.dll and Mediaportal.exe. So if you combine the wrong versions, I think this is asking for problems.

There is a bug with your "Plugin" and mytvseries. When I want to start a series than mp changes the refresh rate, but i have to click twice on the ok button to finally play the movie...

What graphics card and settings in mediaportal.xml are you using? I ask because I can't see this problem.

I also get this, but I think it only happens when live tv (pal) is playing and I try to watch cinema (24fps) material. Tv stops, refresh rate is changed but series doesn't start..

Thanks for the reply edterbak, I'll wait for the final 1.0 release prior to impementing this 'must-have'. I don't really have time to uninstall RC2, reinstall RC3 and re-configure everything again at the moment...

Another question, how accurate is the plugin to date in spotting NTSC/PAL/24fps sources? And, if it doesn't already, could I suggest the plugin flashes up a 'switching to xx refreshrate' for a few seconds when changing to a new source?

Same here. I have to select a movie twice to play it when Device reset is enabled.
