Is there any chance this could be extended to speaker settings too?
In XP my speakers are normally set to 2.0 so that DD/DTS are output as SPDIF bitstreams, TV and stereo vidoes are output as Dolby Surround 2.0 and music is output as plain stereo. When I play BD media (or one of the handful of files I have with multi-channel FLAC soundtracks) I have to set the speakers to 7.1 to get surround sound.
If when checking the refresh rate this could also check the audio streams and set the speakers accordingly that would be the icing on my HTPC cake
