Guess I am reading the wrong part (after stop was pressed gheheh :) )
VMR9: Dispose
2009-09-15 21:47:50.384329 [Debug][MPMain]: VMR9: Inactive
2009-09-15 21:47:50.385329 [Debug][MPMain]: PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces
2009-09-15 21:47:50.387329 [Debug][MPMain]: PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces
2009-09-15 21:47:50.388329 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9: ReleaseComObject(): 0
2009-09-15 21:47:50.410330 [Info.][MPMain]: VideoPlayerVMR9: Disabling DX9 exclusive mode
2009-09-15 21:47:50.412330 [Info.][MPMain]: RefreshRateChanger.SetRefreshRateBasedOnFPS: no refreshrate change required. current is 50hz, desired is 50

the line right after you quote, it says:
2009-09-15 21:47:40.925788 [Info.][MPMain]: RefreshRateChanger.RunExternalJob: running external job failed The parameter is incorrect

You mentioned you tried DC.exe already.
May I suggest (or did you already) try to call a batch command (wich calls the DC.exe command)? This way you can test the command outside of Mediaportal if it is functioning or not.

What are you settings of the dynamic refreshrate changer.

Code:
 "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ATI Technologies\\ATI.ACE\\Core-Static\\CLI.exe" Start Load profilename="24hz"
From the first post, I notice that all the slaches are doubled. Can you try if that will work? Maybe it has to do somehting with the spaces in the folder names. This is not always picked up correctly.

hehehe ... found the Ati profile issue.

also i did see the 'running external job failed The parameter is incorrect' so i tried the command in a windows 'run' window. Stupid as i am, i am running x64 and did not notice i did not add the Program Files (x86) part in the filename. Now i am using: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CLI.exe" Start Load profilename="24hz" (without the extra slashes)

Now the Ati profile is working and it is changing the refreshrate as supposed to.

One other thing, i noticed that every time i go to the refresh rate changer option in the configuration it changes "use the default refresh rate" to: "TV" even when i change it to PAL every time. Behavior is constant. I select PAL, press OK so configuration closes, start config again and there TV is again. Although i did not notice any strange behavior in MP when default is set to TV when starting and stopping a video. It works as it should; 24 when starting a video and back to 50 when stopping.

I cannot work out from the first post how to use E Default refresh rate. The description says enable/disable default refresh rate but says nothing about the Edit field connected to this check button. What are one suppose to put in here?

To use the default RR changer you don't have to fill in anything. Just make sure you mark the "enable" checkbox and, if you want it, set the default refresh rate to TV. I think that's the smartest thing to do if you use MP to watch TV, then you don't have to go though the RR change process every time you want to watch some tellie.

EDIT: Oh sorry, I think I misunderstood you. It is only the last part of my answer that applies then. Actually I think that image is obsolete, in recent versions the text field is a drop down menu instead.

You should use an updated version of MP that solved that issue with a drop down list. See below :

Well, ARC worked perfectly... until I formatted the drive. Now, when I try to play a video, not only does the refresh rate change, but the video file won't play at all. All I get is a black screen, no sound. I then have to restart the computer. If I turn off ARC, everything works ok.

I've Vista 64, MP1.1.0 and Nvidia 9400 card. Will surely be grateful if any1 can help me with this problem.
Thanks!

EDIT:

I know what the problem is, my firewall is somewhat intervening. When it's shut down, ARC works as usual. What should I do to tell my firewall to allow ARC do it's thing?

EDIT 2: Never mind, I fixed it by setting Mediaportal.exe as a "Trusted application".

I am running Windows 7 64 Bit and I use batch-files (like c:\50Hz.cmd) within Mediaportal for the refreshrate change. It works with Video-DVDs, Blurays, TV and Videos.

But I have one problem: The refreshrate does not change if I start a AVI/MKV directly from DVD - starting a AVI/MKV stored on the harddrive works fine though. Does anyone have made the same experience?
