Im sorry Tourettes, I meant breaking up of the image like Johan describes in the post above it. Not tearing like we know it. Wrong choice of words.
The issue Johan describes came accros very similar to what I have seen. Upon pressing pause and resume, the codec would have difficulty getting into sync again of video/audio or something. I think this is what describes it best. A sort of a false start.
This issue is not present anymore in my setup with the SAF 4.0beta4.

Does anybody else have the problem where when a video is played and the refresh rate is changed, sometimes the audio does not start at all?

I'm using ffdshow for decoding both video and audio, and also both video and audio streamed out via hdmi from a hd4550 to the receiver.

What method of refreshrate changing do you use?
Maybe you can find a solution by using the ATI profiles. This method of RR changing also does a reset on the audio part through HDMI. This could help you with your problem. I would use the Batch file methode to call the ATI profiles + the wait command with 2-5 seconds. See the first post for the details about it.

Good luck

I must say that I have been looking into SAF many times but I personally love to have full control of which codecs are installed.
Does the problems with the broken video disappear with SAF and MP1.0.2 as well or do I need to update to (yikes) beta MP.

Which codec are used for x264 movies (seems to be the only ones with problems for me) in SAF?

If it works with MP1.0.2 and the codec used in SAF I most likely will try to only update the x264 codec part.

Please post your opinions about this and if you feel like it convince me to use SAF :)
as an example I have different hotkeys associated to my remote for batch files which changes the registry settings for ffdshow so I am really allergic to install new versions when it is working :)

Yes. For me it did.

The MPC-HC MPCVideoDec.ax

I think just updating the mpcvideodec.ax is sufficient. Atleast worth a try. IF it works, it saves you some big changes.
good luck

I already did this and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! :)

It works like a charm. Video is smoother than ever. I have now watched some TV series and there were no jerkiness or strange things at all.
Pause is now working without problems.

The DTS passthrough problems I had before with stuttering video when playing x264 dts movie seems to have disappeared as well.
At least from my quick test I made on a movie I had serious problems with.

If this is dynamic refresh rate or the updated codec I have no clue about but I am happy :)

I also have an issue with the refresh rate changer of MP1.1B1 on Win7 x64.

MP does not change refresh rate.

Tried various options. Just enabled it and let windows do its thing... nothing happens when starting a 23.976 video.
Tried dc noon with 2 cmd files.. nothings happens.
Tried ati cat 9.9 profiles, nothings happens.

all files work as supposed to when i run them outside MP.

attached logs. In the logs there is a line where mp detect the 23.976 rate and invokes the desired 24hz file, but then nothing happens :(

What I understand from the log file is that it reads "The Dark Knight" file info and concludes it contains 50fps. Your current refreshrate is already 50hz. So no change is needed (it thinks).

You should be using (in configuration.exe>DirectShow Filter Controle) EVR rendering mode with Win7. Are you using that?

eeehh...

Code:
2009-09-15 21:47:40.919787 [Info.][MPMain]: RefreshRateChanger.AdaptRefreshRate: framerate on file M:\DivX\The.Dark.Knight.mkv is 23,976
2009-09-15 21:47:40.922787 [Info.][MPMain]: RefreshRateChanger.SetRefreshRateBasedOnFPS: current refreshrate is 50hz - changing it to 24hz
2009-09-15 21:47:40.924788 [Info.][MPMain]: RefreshRateChanger.RunExternalJob: running external job in order to change refreshrate "C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CLI.exe" Start Load profilename="24hz"

log states something different... current = 50, video =23,976, gonna change it to 24...

Using EVR & Aero.
