Just had time to test this new skin. Even in this very early development version, it has a great look and feel to it.
I am very impressed by the work this team has done already, and I am looking forward to the (hopefully frequent) updates.

OK finally got this downloaded on Wifi on the train...

Out of interest, why an exe installer and is it intentional that you can not install the skin without moving pictures? (the option to not install is disabled in installer)

I used the nsis installer because the fonts are not installed by mpe.

It would be great if you could explain what is not working and what you need to migue who is taking care about mpei now. I would be very happy to see this skin using mpei for distribution

I have discussed this via PM. One issue is the installation of fonts (which I think has actually been fixed with 0002980: Sometimes font installation fails - MediaPortal Bugtracker)

They are also using some functions in NSIS and NicoH was asking about How to include an NSIS or an MSI installer - MediaPortal Wiki

Then there is the dependency on moving pictures but I am going to talk for Fforde when I get a spare 2 minutes and see if I can help break this dependency

I too would love to see an MPEI version

There is no strict dependency on movingpictures, its just a matter of not creating the movingpictures user control for selecting category/filter nodes when plugin is not installed.

But currently the editor will crash as its trying to load references (ie create the control) from movpics on load hence the current dependency.

one think that i have notice is that with this skin the function screensaver,reduce framerate its not working.i have check it with gpu-z and its working on full speed,if i change skin on the default then after 300 seconds the card goes on idle.Any idea why??

Hi,

Some comments about the skin, these are probably the showstoppers for me to replace StreamedMP in my setup. Please note that these are just my opinions Most of the comments are related to TV part which I use quite frequently.

1) In Home screen menu navigation (up/down) feels slow and sluggish. With many items in Home screen it would be nice to have this faster.

2) TV Home screen menu layout is difficult to navigate. Navigating sideways doesn't seem right. If I press left when in left side menu the focus still goes to TV overlay, jumping over overlay is irritating. Recording menus on the right are accessed much more frequently than some items on the left (like TV-Streams, Teletext). In my opinion single menu with stacked items would be better.

3) TV Home screen, going up from Teletext menu does not work.

4) EPG and Mini-EPG entries count is way too low for me, maybe something that can be configured.

5) Program info screen (Record, Advanced record), again the sideways navigation does not feel right and the layout seems messy at first glance.

6) Context menu opens in bottom of the screen. This seems to be design issue in this skin and goes with Mini-EPG, I'm not sure why the whole screen cannot be used..

7) Related to 6) I need to press OK to view the plot of the currently running program after first bringing up the OSD in fullscreen TV, not sure why the plot cannot be shown directly..

My only suggestion so far, is in the Mini-EPG, it says "On Now" at the top, but then next to each channel is says "Now:" followed by the show name. I think it would look less cluttered if the "Now" on each channel row is removed.

First of all I have to say WOW great job and a lot of work as seen by looking into your xml and graphic files and using the skin of course. Thanks for you devotion and time.

I don't know if this has been brought up yet but the video overlay in this pic below is unreadable and the info window is too low.

I would rather see Movingpictures and movingpictures detailinfo look more like TVSeries in episode view (this has been done very well) and the whole layout, instead of this big infowindow in the pic.

I also changed the NEW corner overlay to blue it is more to my taste it is a bit transparent and has a rounded corner.
