I'am trying to install the backdrop skin but the installer just stops. (Not responding)
Do you know anything about this problem?

Can confirm this issue (already reported some weeks ago)! After a reboot of windows, installation should work fine!

Hi All,

Just made the shift to Media Portal again after a few years, have 1.2 Beta installed and the Backdrop Skin. Liking the Mp overhaul and loving Backdrop.

I have tried to search this thread and other threads on just a couple of issues I am having and unsure if its backdrop or MP1.2.

Firstly the Weather on the main/home page only shows a hyphen - until you actually go into the weather page and then it appears to update, anyway to change/setup this so it shows on startup?


Secondly I cannot for the life of me work out how to get the Menus to show on the bottom of the main/home page liek in the screen shots!! I worked out how to get like cover displays etc in other views but dosent appear to be a menu for the home screen?


Sorry if these are total noob question but thanks for any help!

As I'm now on SVN Version of MP (not that far away from what 1.2RC will be) I noticed two errors in Log- files. Both belongs to missing skin files.:

2011-08-16 00:36:23.568709 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: SKIN: Missing C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\Backdrop\dialogIncompatiblePlugins.xml
2011-08-16 00:36:23.571709 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: SKIN: Missing C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\Backdrop\dialogOldSkin.xml

Seems to be new "feature" in 1.2RC... I just copied both files over from defaultwide skin and errors are gone.

I think a Backdrop V1.0.2 will be needed as soon as 1.2 RC is available.

New version released (see first post for download link). Contains bugfixes and small improvements. Also contains the new version of Fanart Handler and Latest Media Handler plugins.

Hi jekkyl,

For weather I think you need to open MP configuration and do two things;
1. Set your city under "Weather"
2. Goto "Plugins" and select the "InfoService" plugin and make sure to tick the update on startup.

Can you please post a screenshot. Have you selected to start MP with basichome in MP configuration or are you using the old home?

I've now installed V1.0.2. All went well. The missing xml files are now fixed. Thanks.

Tried to install this but get three errors in a row when I try to run the installer (Windows XP, MePo 1.2 beta). Attached screens of them with labels showing the order of appearance.

Hi,

Yes, I'm running MP 1.2 SVN version and the installation maker tool has changed. All MP 1.2 Beta users will get this but should be able to press ok and continue the installation. No workaround for this as far as I know... Users of MP1.2 SVN will not get this message.
