BackupSettings for Tv Server and Media Portal (1 Viewer)

please go to your backup directory and open the file TV_User\TVsettings.xml
search for <cards> and post all your cards in your backup file (till </cards>)
Please create a new backup with your clean MP 1.1alpha under a new name and repeat the above steps. I need to understand your cards in both your backup files and in your new MP1.1 alpha.

oflahsp, is it possible that you accidently downgraded from 1.0.3 to a lower version? MP 1.1 alpha or MP1.0.3 will add an additional TV card by default called DVB-IP. Your message could be explained if your backup data did contain more TV cards than your actual MP installation.
BackupSettings does support adding a new TV card during import, but cannot handle the case if TV cards got removed. If you tried to change from 1.0.3 to a lower 1.0.2 version this message would occur. I will try to add support for removing TV cards in the next version.
In between you can try the following to save your settings:
- rescan all channels in the tv server section for your TV cards in 1.1 alpha

Open the TV Server Filter tab in backupsettings and uncheck
-Server and cards
-Channels
-ChannelCardMappings

Uncheck "Delete all channels" in the group "Before importing TV server settings"
Now try the import again

Thanks loads for replying. Sorry for my slow response.
Looking at the files you said reminded me of something. I replaced a card at one point. Is this why they start at 2 and go to 5 - Thus causing my invalid card 5 problem?

oflahsp, yes, this does explain it. You should try to import without card settings as described above, so all your other settings will be kept and rescan manually. I will try to improve my card detection algorithm.
For all, i just realized that BackupSettings is broken for the latest SVN of 1.1 due to new .dll files of Tvserver. I am working on an update.

  In 1.1 cant get the scan screen when I click on my dvb-t cards, can for my dvb-s
  Cant get all of the satellite channels I have now (still operational) when I do a new scan (with updated list)

If it wasn t for the fact I REALLY like MediaPortal and that problems seem solvable with this I'd scream.
Your backup softwre is SO important - you should feel chuffed.

oflahsp, i assume you tried to scan before the import with backupsettings. If that is not working with a clean MP installation you need to go to the MP1.1 alpha forum and post your log files.

BackupSettings V1.0.3.1 released

I have released version V1.0.3.1.
Backupsettings is now using the MediaPortal Extension Installer (MPEI), so installing and checking for updates will become much more comfortable. The MPEI Installer calls my BackupSettings Installer which will choose the right plugin version for your Mediaportal or TvServer version number.

I am supporting the latest SVN (Revision 23407), which changed the .dll files so many plugins or skins may not work when you upgrade.

I also fixed a bug in my last version for importing schedules.

This version enables also the import of card settings if Tv server cards have been removed and the backup data contain more cards than the actual server. This enables you now also to downgrade from 1.1alpha to an older version.

I will be out for a couple of weeks, so please be patient on questions during that time.

Struggling with MPEI Installer

So I saw the MPEI version of the plugin is now uploaded to the repository, but it is not showing up in the online list of the MPEI installer. I have no idea why and will need to find some help here after my vacation. So far you need to download the plugin manually.

Looks like it is working now after i changed the filename from BackupSettings.MPE1 to BackupSettings.mpi.

Hi,

I want to upgrade MP from 1.02 to 1.1 beta. Now I installed this awesome plugin to make life easier. This install went fine. But I'm not able to enable the plugin. It is listed in the mediaportal configuration > plugins > tab MP installer
But its not listed as grey in the tab Plugins.
When I try to reinstall or install it says "extension already installed, continue?"

What happened?

My other plugins ore installing and working ok..
