Hi,
First time poster so please be gentle

I have a media PC in my living room that is dual boot , it has windows 7 64 bit and also XP 32 bit

I had a go and installed mediaportal 1.1.2 onto my win7 64bit install , configured everything and
it seems to work fine. (apart from some picture quality issues so I want to try xp32)

I would like to export All of my configuration data from this install , then install mediaportal onto my Xp32 installation
and import this configuration data to save me the hours of work it took to get the win 7 64 bit install configured.

I tried this (using backup settings) but it seems to have messed up the tv tuning info , because when I try to tune to a channel it says
no tuner device available?

Hardware
2 x Hauppage Nova-DVB-S2
1 x Hauppage Nova-TD (dual freeview)

Can anyone give me any advice or Iam just better off re-configuring it from scratch ?

Hi shadowze, welcome to the forum. I had the same problem like you described and it caused me some headache, too.
In the exported TVsettings.xml there are some path names incorrect if you change from xp to win 7

Try to do a manual global replace of "C:\Program Files" by "C:\Program Files (x86)"
In addition replace the folder of your user settings from MP "C:\Administration........" by "C:\ProgramData\......"

then you should try the import again. If that does not help you can try to play with the filtersettings in BackupSettings-TV server settings
uncheck server and cards, channels, channel card mappings , tv groups, radio groups, schedules and recordings and import all other mediaportal settings
You may have similar path issues with some mediaportal plugin configurations in .xml files.

Then run a manual scan of all stations and redo groups and recordings.

AW: BackupSettings for Tv Server and Media Portal

BackupSettings does not run anymore with the latest 1.20SVN.

BackupSettings stops the export with the following message

2011-01-14 21:34:20.453932 [(11)]: BackupSettingsSetup: <RED>Could not export TV server settings to F:\Backup\TV_User\TVsettings.xml - Exception: Methode nicht gefunden: "System.String TvDatabase.Channel.get_Name()

Any chance to get it run.

Have you a svn that fix this issues.

dyamant,
i would need an install file for the new MediaPortal SVN. In the old days there were precompiled SVN snapshots to download. I tried to download the source, but failed compiling it.
I am using Microsoft Visual c# 2010 Express

Update: Tried again to compile according to the Wiki instructions but failed again. I have attached the log file.

version 1.2.0.0. released

I have released version 1.2.0.0 with the following changes:

• added plugin compatibility check for TV server and MediaPortal plugin (finally found out how to compile the SVN)
• updated .dlls and structures for MP1.2
• fixed bug with nondefault installation paths
• I also added some additional settings for the future TvWishList and other plugins.

If the MP team will not do any more changes, then this version should work with the future 1.2. I tested it with SVN 1.1.6.27652

have fun, huha

I am having issues with the MPEI installer which is not showing the correct version number. I made in the 1.2.0.0. release the mistake not to update the version number. I did a rerelease (Version 1.2.0.1) with the correct version number, but this version is not being displayed either. it is showing only 1.1.0.2. I have removed 1.2.0.0 from google code. I will need some help here from dukus. If you could install 1.2.0.0 there is no need to go to 1.2.0.1 as the plugins are identical.

I performed a backup then wiped my pc and reloaded mp. I then did a restore, when i go to mp config and then to plugins i get this error

Failed to locate assembly 'C3.Common, Version=9.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5829615b176fb6c7'. Note that the configuration program must be executed from/reside in the MediaPortal folder, the execution will now end.

    Help?

ap90033, please turn verbose debug on, repeat the import and post your tv server log file. What mediaportal version are you running?

ap90033, this indicates that you do have a mediaportal plugin, which is not compatible with 1.1.3.0. As i saw from the log file that you did have 1.1.3.0 also in the past. i suspect that this situation did exist already for your old data. When did you open the MP config the last time before?
To find out which plugin is not compatible you have to disable your plugins in MPconfig until this message disappears. Then try to install a new plugin version if available or keep it disabled. i had the same issue in the past, too. This will become better in MP1.2, where the plugin check will detect incompatibilities.
