Yes, I did select the Crystal Palace transmitter.

I wonder if I can get a picture with the right codec...?

I'm not sure if my hardware is up to the job. I have an Athlon64 3200+ CPU, with a Radeon 9600XT 256MB graphics card and 1GB DDR RAM.

Cool.

But you cant make a normal MP install sent the signal to VLC instead of the built in tv player? Just seeing if it can be done without installing/setting up tvserver3

no idea.. don't think tvengine2 uses rtsp.

Most of the propriety brands now do HD, Cyberlink PowerDVD for one, WinDVD most probably another + there will be many more released in the near future.

Anyone able to view BBC HD, not even available on sky unless you pay extra.

You have it wrong on the Sky/HD front, I am watching BBC HD via technotrend S2-3200 via Sky without problems. I brought the CoreAVC codec as that was recomended as the best but I have some config issue as have to the Cyberlink H.264 codec active to watch it, lucky that comes with the card.

Cant help with issues via DVB-T though....get no channels at all via Freeview..

ah... that's the codec i was talking about.... CoreAVC codec.

the terrestrial (DVB-T) HD channels are ONLY available from the crystal palace TX.

i think the BBC HD channel is "free-to-view" on satellite, but of course you would need an HD receiver and to get that from sky you need a subscription - so technically he is right. you could also do it using a suitable S2 tv card.

I was suprised the BBC HD was available at all on Freeview, thought there was a bandwidth issues there and we have to wait till 2011!

Must admit I did go out and get the S2 card really just to get BBC HD, other free-to-view channels are a bonus....so it cost be £100 to watch it....cheaper than a Sky HD box install though.

Also not sure how you get the HD signal out of the HD box and into a PC...

Awesome!! I'm using TVengine3. What do I have to do?

Will simply installing VLC do the trick, i.e. will Media Portal automatically pick up the codec?

no ..tvengine3 only supplies the stream.. it takes nothing to do with the client playback.

you would need to manually start timeshifting the channel on the server.. and then connect VLC to the rtsp stream on the client.
